Looks like it will cost you more to have a cup of coffee. I recently found MD's coffee taste pretty good.

Yet, Tim Horton's will stay as popular as ever...sigh
Tim Horton's has gone down hill soooo much over the past decade

I agree. The coffee is awful and the doughnuts even more so. I don't understand why the masses buy coffee from them.

I think McD has better coffee than tims. I head there when I need a fix before driving home after work.

mcdonalds keeps their prices at tim hortons level. if tim hortons increases their prices, it will give them an opportunity to raise theirs as well. the only thing holding mcds back from raising their prices (as they do everything else) is tims market domination. the second wendys jacks up all their $1.39 menu items, mcdonalds will do the same.

regardless of tims increase, people will still go there. there will always be line ups in the morning and early afternoon. if they lose customers, it means shorter lines for me if i ever do go there.

coffee has gotten quite popular as of late. young people are drinking coffee more than ever. it is the new smoking. even if it does level off in popularity, you will still have a whole bunch of addicted people who need their coffee fix.

I remember once, at around noon, I was driving by the Tim Hortons and there were so many cars in the drive thru that I stopped to count, I counted 16 cars....... 16 CARS! They were stretched out all the way to the back of the parking lot and wrapped around. We all know tim hortons is busy, but usually 6-7 cars... people are just insane. Tim hortons has the absolute worst setup of any fast food chain, except maybe starbucks. But SB and TH are horrible, starbucks usually only has 2 tills, and it takes forever for some of their coffees. Timmys on the other hand has maybe 3 tills at the high traffic locations, but that doesnt' help when there's 40 people in the line up. I think like most people, I gave up on tim hortons, haven't gone there in over a year now... always was far too busy. Now you go to mcdonalds, they have 8 tills... usually 4 of them open, but if a line-up starts up, it seems like the other 4 tills open up real quick. How come mcdonalds has 8 tills and tim hortons has 2? I've never waited more than 2-3 minutes at a mcdonalds to order food, but 15-20 min at tim hortons.

I really can't believe people can drink that swill. I also can't believe how people keep going after they:
1. Give poor service (the server gets you what they were thinking, not what you ordered)
2. Shrink the doughnuts to the size of cheerios and the cup sizes to the sample size similar to what they give at the supermarket to try a new product.
3. Make the coffee burnt and crappy tasting.
Geez, get a coffee machine for home and drink real coffee and save money at the same time.

I know what you mean, the Timmies by my place will have cars wrapped around the building and out onto the street during the morning, but seems to have 3-4 cars in line at all times! That's a lot of pollution for cars just idling.
I'm done with Timmies. I used to get it at an Esso every morning, since the lines were much shorter and the McDonalds on the route to work did not offer the coffee & muffin deal. But now with a new job, I'm back at McDonalds! I will admit, I don't like this new trend of people switching to McDonalds... I did enjoy the short to no lines! Now it's usually 10-15 people.

People go to Tim's because it's convenient.
There are more Tim's than McDonalds, and some have two drive up windows, or are just drive up windows.
People are lazy and don't want to get out of their cars, and would rather risk sub par service and food at a higher price.
I hate Tim's. The food is terrible, the workers don't care about their jobs and i dont blame them. The prices don't reflect the service and quality given. The company doesn't seem to be doing anything to curb the pollution problem, and seems to encourage it, by doubling up on cups, and letting cars idle in it's drive thru lane. And on top of all that, its smacks us in the face with this image of being Canadiana.

I would say Timmies food is decent. The only change that I've noticed is their switch from shredded lettuce to pieces of lettuce. Their chicken got worse as well since it tastes like rubber now. But other than that, I think everything else has been pretty much the same.
It seems that a lot of you expect too much out of Timmies. When you say the prices don't reflect the service. I think we can all agree that Timmies is not overly expensive, so I wouldn't walk in there demanding the royal treatment. You can complain about the pollution but if Timmies were to actually do something about it, I'm sure prices would rise and then we would be getting complaints about rising prices. You complain about doubling up on cups, yet when ppl get burned by hot coffee/tea, you complain about that too. You complain about letting cars idle. It would seem this is the general concept of a drive through. It's either let cars idle or remove the drive through completely, which will undoubtedly generate more complaints.
There's no satisfying everyone but I'm sure Timmies is doing it's best in trying to satisfy the majority of the market. Prices of everything has gone up lately so I don't see why this would be a shock to anyone.

I don't understand why people buy food from timmies?
Sandwiches are usually dry, boring, unflavourful... reminds me of what my mom forced me to take to school when I was a kid...
and its not CHEAP!
I'ld buy a coffee and get a $4 torpedo which is twice the value of a baguette sandwich at Tim's

There was this story in the news about how city of Toronto officials were trying to make new changes to laws about drive ins because Tim Horton's was blocking traffic on many high traffic streets (like the one by the 404/sheppard).
I don't understand why people can't just park and go in to buy. It is so much faster and more convenient

The only reason I ever go there (which is very rarely) is because of location (the same reason I shop at Metro). I'd much rather go to 7/11 or McD's for hot drinks (I'd rather jump in front of a bus than drink the burnt sewage Starbucks call coffee), but there's always multiple tim hortons where I am...

You should drink their hot chocolate then IMO (if you are in it for the caffeine). Isn't it cheaper? And I was told it has more caffeine. And at least it tastes better (and you can ask them to remake it if it tastes bad/watery, they'll gladly do that for you from my experience)
I usually only get tim horton's hot chocolate with a mint tea bag (for 10c extra thanks to someone who mentioned it on RFD). It's great! --> XL hot chocolate with a mint tea bag is only $1.75

What I don't understand is the day before the price increase was reported, an article on canoe.ca said that Tim Hortons posted a big increase in profits.
Makes you wonder why they need to increase prices.
We have 5 Tim Hortons in Midland - a town of about 17,000 people.

I usually do take the hot chocolate, actually, but I don't take it too often because of how much sugar it has.
I should try the tea idea, though. Thanks.

Tim Hortons is so overrated. I simply do not understand what people like so much about that stupid restaraunt. The coffee is dishwater most of the time, the donuts are so small, the muffins are so small, the sandwiches are 2 inches, the soup is made from powder, I could go on and on about how much their stuff sucks. What's more, the stuff is quite expensive. $2.28 (taxes included) for a 10oz. cup of not-very-good coffee and a dry, hard donut. Or how about $5.55 (taxes included) for breakfast including a 10oz. cup of not-very-good coffee, a small, greasy hashbrown, and one strip of lettuce, one thinly sliced tomato, one very small egg patty, one slice of processed cheese, and two small strips of hard bacon on a tiny bagel. WTF.
Dont ever go to Tim Hortons. It is definitley the biggest waste of your hard-earned money ever.

lol, no we all can't agree that Tim's is cheap. The food is bloody pricey for what you get. A small chicken sandwich, which is poorly made costs about $5 and thats just a small sandwich without anything else, and its about the size from the tip of your palm.
Tim's is raising prices now, just because it's expanding. Like it's doing us a great service by making more money. What's next? A Tim's Bailout? And i'd pay extra for Tim's to make actual positive changes. In fact i pay extra at Starbucks for their quality and service. They don't double up a cup, they provide a recycled sleeve. Wow what a novel concept.
Lots of other fast food places have drive thru-s, Tim's attracts many drivers for its' convenience. They could acknowledge the customer by focusing more on getting the drivers in and out. How can this issue not be brought up and remedied? Its in their best interest to keep the customer happy.
Tims is doing its best to satisfy the market? Really? How so?
Seems to me, Tim's is just satisfying itself without any consideration for it's customers. Customers who wait in long lines for shyte service and overpriced food.
Then again, most of the public are sheep, and will get in line without even knowing whats on the other end. They will wait for their mediocre coffee, double cup it to protect their fragile hands, and then toss the cups out the window when they are done. Rinse and repeat.

Tim Horton's is misleading when they say "Always Fresh". The donuts are baked fresh but they're not made fresh, there's a difference. The donuts are made, then frozen, then sent to the stores, where they re-bake them "fresh". I also generally don't find anything special about their coffee (though I don't think it's bad). The chicken in their toasted chicken club or whatever it's called tastes very rubbery, like it's filled with other stuff that's not chicken or something.

there is absolutely nothing special about tim hortons coffee, the only thing remotely special is the extra large size in the US, every store it is different, and most of the time, its bad :(
after the free mcdonalds coffee promo i got hooked, 2.92 for a coffee (refill as well!) muffin and sausage mcmuffin, amazing deal for an on the go, dont have to wait 15 minutes in line at a drive through, breakfast.
- coffee prices go up
- cup sizes go down
- donut prices go up
- donut sizes go down
eventually the masses will realize, they're still a cheap decent coffee, but swallow your pride and have mcdonalds for a week, you will save money and you will most likely enjoy it more.

I get a large McD's coffee and a muffin for 1.77 every morning.
Also, a large coffee at McD's is about a third bigger than Tim's extra large.
I don't eat at McD's otherwise, I find their food repulsive (and I don't eat meat), but for 1.77 for my breakfast, I'm happy.
I used to have Tim's every morning. I now realize their coffee is disgusting.

I admit I used to like TH coffee (although it may have been more the cream and sugar that made me like it:)

So Tim's is predicting higher prices due to the weak Canadian dollar.... Has anyone in the H.O. looked at the Cdn $ recently? It is considerably stronger against the US$ and is only getting stronger.
Oh well.. give the sheep some BS excuse and keep raising prices.. "Oh, there was a rainshower in the Amazon which is driving up our costs..."
Sad thing is Canadians will grab their ankles and take it like always...
That's why I drink Starbucks... love supporting a US company.. USA #1..

I think people love Tim's because most order double-double.... they always get my coffee order wrong... once they gave me black (I wanted double-double) and it tasted so bad...
I guess if you put cream and sugar (x2) in anything it'll taste good. Not worth the drive-thru and crazy atmosphere in the restaurants.
I tried MicD's coffee the other day and I think we have a winner there. SBUX is ok too but I havent learned how to order coffee from there yet :-0 (Tall, short, WTF!!)...
