I have 2 low end receivers available to use in my room and can't really decide which is better, so I'd appreciate any advice on which is gonna give the better quality sound.

First is a samsung 5.1 HT-TQ72 home theater all-in-one I bought last year, rated at 1000 watts. It includes a 5 disc changer which I don't really use, I really only use it for the sound, as I use my xbox 360 for playing discs. A plus is that I already have the speakers for this system as they came with it.

The second choice is a dedicated audio receiver only, sony 5.1 STRDG510 but very low end, rated at 500 watts. I know it's sony's very low end, but is the dedicated sony still better than the all-in-one samsung? I would probably have to go out and buy new speakers if I use the sony, because the 5.1 speakers for the samsung don't have a powered sub.

Thanks for any advice or opinions.

even though the all in one says 1000 watts dont belive that for a second i would be hard pressed to belive its even close to 100 rms.

same goes for the sony reciever too but the sony should give you more options for connections and have support for more prossesing then an all in one.

Thanks I realized the watts reported were probably both complete ********, but decided to include it anyways in my post since that's what was listed. The Samsung definitely puts out louder sound, but at this point I'm still leaning towards the Sony as really really loud sound isn't attractive for me anyways since I can never really crank it up. Plus I suspect the Sony puts out a higher quality sound. Hopefully I can find some decent/cheap speakers to use with the sony.

Is there any way I can use my old sub (non powered, uses regular speaker wire) with the sony (i believe the sub is supposed to be powered, and it has a plug in type connection, looks similiar to an RCA input)?
