I have a MBNA Platinum Plus MasterCard. About 5 years ago when I applied for this card, I was told that if the price drops in 60 days, they will refund the price difference. But now I call them about this benefit, they say they never had such benefit.

doesn't matter if they used to have it, what does is do they have it now...what does your current credit card agreement say? You should be able to check that online as a card member.

It does have this though...but I think it is for lost/damaged items?
Purchase Assurance
- Covers most items purchased with your MBNA credit card for the first 90 days from the date of purchase

AFAIK Citi Platinum cards have price protection but MBNA doesn't and never has.

No, not Purchase Assurance, it's price protection, which is listed on MasterCard.com US web site, but none benefits are listed on MasterCard.ca

Yeah, at first Citi issued this card (Sony), but later they switched this card to MBNA, I was not aware the benefits are different.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was wondering if indeed MBNA has this price protection benefit.
The reason I am asking is that I read somewhere that you can avoid big sale line-ups like the up coming boxing day event by
buying the item a few days before the sale and just getting the flyer on that day and submit an application for price protection on your credit card.
In my case I have the MBNA platinum plus smart cash.
