You might want to edit the title to be more specific by putting in the store and for how much it is selling.

Yes they are good. Search the RFD forums or the rest of the web and you'll find tons of discussion and reviews on them. The 500 series is much improved over the previous models.

They used to sell a lower model (530?) in-store, but I have not seen it in a while. This model is online only, but shipping is free and you can use any credit card online which is nice.
I ordered one about 10 days ago and received it within a week... emailed them this morning for a price adjustment and should receive my credit back in a week.
My only complaint is the glossy bumper which got scratched after 1 use. It should be a rubber bumper. Another thing is this robot says Roomba 580 on the actual unit, but does not include the accessories that should be included with a 580.
The 570 and 580 are the same robots, but the 580 has extra accessories bundled with it.

Looks like a few people have this problem, and a few people don't have this problem. Six months of problem free daily service with my 570, so I'm not too concerned. By the way, this is the best gadget I've ever owned.

Interesting... I bought a 560 off eBay used and I haven't had issues like this. I'll take the thing apart tonight to see if the gearbox is sealed properly.
My 560 has been great. I live in a condo so the roomba vacuums the entire place, carpet and hardwood.
My advice is that if you're more lazy than nitpicky about vacuuming, then the roomba is for you and you'll love it. If you take pride in vacuuming ever last speck of dust and feel like you need a dyson, then you'll probably be disappointed by the roomba.

Have been using an old model from costco and it works fine in a small room with relative less obstacles on the floor. I gave up using that in a big room downstairs (living room, family room, kitchen all connected together), with lots of obstacles on the floor, and also area rugs. For those who owe this model, will it work in the above situation ? Do I need to put the virtual wall as I find it too much hassle ?
BTW, this model appears to be cheaper on costco before ...

My 570 (which I bought from Costco.ca on sale last fall) has indeed experienced the failed cleaning head module problem. iRobot sent me a replacement CHM that fixed the issue without abnormal complaints on my part.
Hopefully, these 570s contain a fixed CHM already and will provide reliable service.

Is the CHM still red? My 570's (it's actually a 580) is red. I heard the replacements are blue. Also is yours a 570 or 580?
On another note, my robot shipped in a plain brown box, not the regular retail packaging.

If you have PETS dont buy this. I bought this before my dog and was beginning to have problems when it vacuums hair that is long. When dog moved in. Yup you'll have this problem. The other thread i mentioned was full of all positive feedback but still having issues and i have just laminate flooring and no carpet.

Ordered a Roomba along with the Eneloop deal posted by 'sienna owner'.
Figured going to need some 'C' batteries for the Virtual Wall / Lighthouse.
Also was surprised during checkout; Costco reduced the price before taxes and not after like usual. The $8 coupon on the batteries was applied after taxes though. Saved an unexpected $9 - almost enough for a free shipping gift card at NCIX :cheesygri

Check at the bottom of the unit, it will say model 57001, 58001 or something like that.
Did everyone gets theirs shipped in a plain brown box, or was it in regular packaging with a picture of the robot outside?

It works just great on my bathroom floor. Not sure what you mean about cleaning the grout joints, as I only see hair/dust on my floor, the rotating brushes are sure to clean things quite well.
For those asking about the box, I received a plain brown box 2 days after ordering my Roomba. I was marked 58001 on it. Hidden under the UPS label there was Roomba labels in large print.

if only it was an inch shorter it could get under my couches. but I do have a normal vacuum which i will drag out once in awhile.

Absolutely love this thing. Watched it work last night in the living room and dining room. Not too loud, goes under the couch and kitchen island, plays nicely with any exposed cords I have running along baseboards, and very entertaining for visitors. Set it loose in the my bedroom, closed all the doors, and "Wall-E" cleaned all the dust under my bed and in corners I rarely get the full-size vacuum into.
The gf is also super happy with this piece of geek kit!

Mine arrived yesterday, however I noticed the box was opened (appears to have been ripped open from the side) and taped back up (using green painters tape...). However, everything still looked brand new (brushes, dust bin, filter, etc) and there was still the plastic thing that you had to pull out from the battery compartment (although it made a beep when I pulled it out).
But when I put it in its dock to charge, it didn't go through the initial 16 hour charge mode, it was a regular charge mode (just pulsing amber, not the fast flashing amber - completed in about 3 hours). A friend of mine had his shipped with mine and noticed the exact same thing (but repackaged with clear tape on the sides).
My sister's appeared to be untouched, and went through the initial 16 hour charge (it didn't make a beep when she pulled out the plastic separator from the battery compartment).
Any ideas what the deal is here? Probably not that big of an issue, but should I return it and ask for a brand new one?

However checking the tech specs: "Factory Refurbished as New". Very sneaky.
So this isn't as good a deal as it sounds. Especially when newegg have the same thing in Canadian funds http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16896779026&Tpk=roomba

The plastic separator is used to separate the battery terminal from the Roomba during shipping. It beeps when you take the battery out of Roomba. Since your Roomba beeps when you took the separator, I think your is a return.

The factory refurbished unit carries only 90 days warranty. IMHO, you need 1 year or more for Roomba. You will need the extra warranty. Since iRobot does not repair them, they just send you the replacement parts or whole Roomba less the battery and dust bin.

Is your Roomba goes around in circle for a minutes or so and then stops with 9 beeps? If yes, it is due to the bumper sensor failure. It is a common failure with the 500 series Roomba. The bumper sensor are not user replaceable parts like the wheels. You need someone like me to do the circuit board level repair person to repair them. It is good for you in getting the money back from Costco.
I think that Costco has two years warranty on TV and computers. Is Roomba part of the Costco extended 2 years warranty?

All 500 series (except the 510) will return to their base automatically either when done or when the battery is low.
The charge is good enough to clean 3-4 decent sized rooms.

Yeah the tangling in the rollers is expected and i use the roller cleaner brush to clean the brushes. The problem is where you hook up the brushes to the mechanism that spins the brushes.... hair gets in there as well. I can forsee the problem if it seizing after so many uses when hair gets in the gearbox and eventually heats and melts. you cant just open that up and clean it. I dont have that problem at all but i can see where it can lead to.
Dont get me wrong. i really enjoy this device but the novelty wears away after using it for almost a year. In supplement to this i bought a dyson root 6 handheld. The pair works well for what i use it for in my small condo.
oh and i got 2 extra spinning brushes. but it only has 3 arms compared to the 6 arm that came with it. in spun off somehwere in my condo...
I give this device another year till it breaks.

Ah I see... I haven't had any hair get into the spinning sockets. The flanged cap (not the ball bearing cap) at the ends of the brushes seem to capture some hair but that's relatively easily cleaned... I see what you mean though..
