Dropped by the new PC Cyber store @ Guy-Concordia yesterday and picked up this WRT54G2 (V1) refurbished router @ $29.XX to replace the linksys travel router that I use at home. There were 4 or 5 left. The sales said there maybe some in the Ottawa stores too.

Sorry, no link. And I can't find it on their website. Sure it is not an N router, but it is still not too bad if you do not have all computers with wireless N on the same local network.

A search of the forum didn't pop up anything about the deal. Mods feel free to move it if this is a re-post.

Been reading about a lot of issues with linksys as of late. Have the same router and constantly disconnects, buddy has the 160N and has issues also. Seems that linksys QC has gone downhill lately..

Lately? It's been poor for years. I've own three Linksys routers in about 5 years, and they all crapped out on me. Three different models too. I've had the most success with my Netgear WGT624v3. I also own a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 with DD-WRT, and that works really well.

This router is crap. I just set it up for a relative and wow.... Cisco should be sued for hacking the domain search engine into the damn ROUTER. I would never trust Linksys products anymore. Only Linksys product that i'm proud to own is WRT54GL.

Just put DD-WRT on it, and things should be better. I understand the signal strength isn't the greatest with this router, but really, how bad can it be?

I plan to load DD-WRT on my WRT54G2 and use it as a wireless bridge, so I hope it can do at least that.

death to my d-link!

Ditto... but mine was from the wireless-B days... I remember having to restart that thing at least once a day.

It does not run tomato. I put Dd wrt on mine and setup wds together with my gl running tomato. Zero problems so far. Now my whole house have pretty good signals. Even the basement. Sorry for bad english, typing on a phone is kind of hard.
