Does anyone know exactly what an employer would see from a credit check? past due amounts, over limits, or bankruptcy or all of them?

I'd presume all of the above. I don't understand how a credit check, is a good measure of character. Everyone has a story. Especially with the way things are now...
Even if someone declared bankruptcy it proves nothing. It's not as if they stole money form their employer.
Criminal background though is a different story though...

for anyone applying into a financial institution, a credit check is standard, and is also done regularly through employment.

basically, because of the perks and possible power an employee may have, financial institutions will not hold those in heavy debt as employees.

with the FI i work for, i've heard of an employee who started a business and required a loan for it... he was approved for the loan and the company eventually went down under. the employee began defaulting payments and was eventually let go

I understand how credit works and the consequences, I've worked in collections for a credit card company. The questions is what in the credit bureau report is looked at? So once again is it over Limit amounts, past due amounts, or bankruptcy? or all or a combination of them?
