Hi - I ordered a 3GS on Friday from Fido - I've always been a pay as you go user with another company - have never been on any kind of plan

So my question is, how do I ensure I don't get charged for anything over and above the $55 data/voice plans I'm getting?

I got the $30/6 gig data plan, and the $25 voice plan

So as long as I don't go over the 6 gigs in data, and don't make or receive long distance calls, or go over my 100 daytime minutes, I should be ok? Since text messages are included, and unlimited evenings and weekends...

Do I understand this correctly?

thanks

That is pretty much it.

Are you being charged the System Access Fee and taxes?

WHAT? No caller id? Kind of pointless to get a phone without it.

I thought only some of their plans didn't have the system access fees

i think the most charges you would get is for long distance or something, other than that your good to go..

yeah, I was thinking about that....so I called Fido and told them I wanted to cancel my phone order - he asked why, so I told him I was disappointed that caller id wasn't included - he said ok, when the phone comes, either refuse the package or accept it and use the included return label to send it back.

yeesh...didn't try to offer me anything at all...just "ok, send it back."

They're not going to offer freebies to new customers buying a phone that is in high demand. Especially when they know that the only other place you can get the same phone happens to be their parent company.

I started out with my 3G on the 6Gb plan and found that I never ever ever used more than 500Mb a month.

Now I'm on the 500Mb plan and saving some $.

Might be something to look into after a bill or two to see if you are using that much bandwidth.

All Fido's new voice plans don't have SAF any more, that is any plan they're currently offering comes without it except retention plan.
However, you will still need to pay for it if you have an old plan with SAF unless you change to the new ones. A $25 one-time setup fee is required though.
