Over the past few days, there's been like 3 stabbings school related.

There's been 7 gun or knife related school incidents in only one month, all in the GTA. Horrible... what happened to the good ol' fist fights?

Luckily, none of this stuff has happened at my school. I have to go through another year of high school and then I'm home free :)

Good thing it's summer now.

Violence doesn't have a pause button. Just because school's out doesn't mean the violence with said group of people will stop. It will, unfortunately, continue and get worse these coming weeks. Or if we're lucky, no one will die (hopeful thinking). At best, the rate of deaths will be in the single digits.

Nothing says congratulations like a stabbing at grad!

again, goes back to bad parenting. keep knives out of reach of children, don't let them watch itchy and scratchy. etc.

They should make the laws more strict towards kids

Still, it's just sad how these people are killing or hurting others because they think they're "hard" or whatever. Usually, it's for stupid reasons.

What is "hard" anyways? If it makes you want to kill someone I don't want to be "hard".

my old high school is like a prison now, after some violence/threats.
teachers and students have to wear tags around their neck, police officer working full time, 3 hall monitors and they've installed cameras.

Kids/teens are overexposed to violence everyday, so its not shocking to them anymore.

Do you go to Western Tech by any chance?

At that school they made everyone, including students, wear security passes on a lanyard around their neck... One of my friends, being the wise guy that he is, just wore a lanyard that went underneath his shirt which gave the impression that his security card was simply underneath his shirt (but it wasn't in fact). The security was so lax there that all he had to do was give the lanyard a tug to be let inside the building past the security guards

If it were that easy it we wouldn't have any violence. These teens aren't getting the knives from their parents, and violent shows/games have little to do with it.

Blaming things like video games and TV shows is a cop out for people who want to avoid the real problems in their communities.

It's the environment that these kids are raised in and live in that creates these problems, not video games or movies. The kids in the safe parts of town are playing the same video games as the ones in the unsafe parts of town.

In fact, the safer parts of town are typically the richer parts of town, so they are playing even more of these violent video games, on bigger tv's, in higher definition (more exposure to the blood and violence), yet there are far fewer of these incidents in these areas.

The simple truth is that kids don't go stabbing each other because they see it on TV or a video game, they do it because they see the other kids at their school with guns and knives. The environment you live in has infinity more influence on you than what you see on TV.

Yeah I was awakened by constant sirens of ambulances passing by my house on their way to St. Joes that morning and they even sent a helicopter there.
