Private wine stores like the Wine Rack will also still be open. Plus local wineries and breweries.

Still lots of ways to get loaded, don't worry!!

It will depend on if they have already bought their booze if the strike happens. Lots of parents and bride and grooms buying for weddings, etc. in the last couple of days in case of a strike. They even showed and interviewed several of them on the news. One Dad was shocked at the empty shelves and was off to several other stores trying to get the wine/liquor allotment for the wedding in 3 weeks time.

Any chance that they would suspend duties/fees for importing liquor from the USA during an LCBO strike????

Any chance that they would suspend duties/fees for importing liquor from the USA during an LCBO strike????

Interesting proposition. On one hand, the government would be cutting itself off from a rich source of tax revenue. But then again, this might put pressure on the LCBO union to hurry up and get things in gear because they would be getting less pressure from the public on re-opening, and the government would be saving on the wages of LCBO employees anyway. I don't know the numbers behind this equation so I can't predict whether or not it's a smart move.

Let me reiterate from another one of my posts:

- The Beer Store will still be open
- The Wine Rack will still be open
- The "brew your own beer" and "make your own wine" stores will be ready and waiting, I am drinking my own wine right now
- The winery company stores and beer brewery company stores themselves will still be open

I predict a lot of looting of liquor stores. Sitting there all day with no staff, full of sweet alcoholic nectar, just begging to be consumed........

Screw this.

I'm brewing my own.

Samaghon, bimber, spirytus, vodka all that good stuff.

I am gonna turn up the heat on the strike, hope it lasts for a few more weeks, then flood the streets with my homemade booze at 100 dollars a bottle.

Uh oh...i said the loud part quite and the quite part loud

What if the strike was LCBO's marketing campaign?

I don't think they can have such good June sales without a pending strike :D

the beer store/lcbo are agency stores and not under the union

so they will remain open.

I wasnt gonna take any chancs, so I went to the Beer Store and bought a crap load of beer, premium, domestic, import, tallboys, etc.

I decided to go to the Beer store cus the LCBO had a line up half way outside the store. That way when they strike, i can still enjoy my beer while the rest of the people are gonna moan and cry why they cant buy beer lol sucks to be them.

whew, its a good thing I didn't spend time in lineup just to get liquor in anticipation of a strike. The LCBO union has actually never striked and my guess is, it'll too much strain on the part-timers

I'll prob just go tomorrow :)

I looked this up this morning too. Good to see the Beer Store is still open. The only real issue is that the LCBO is alot more convenient (for me anyways)

That is a smart move. Buy beer before you can't anymore. Considering the beer store is NOT going on strike, it was definitely better to get it now than later. :|

You are DA MAN! You showed them real good! Now when Omar Abracadabra comes to your house, you can offer him a nice cold halal beer!

I'm sorry but the Costco Gatineau location was being murdered yesterday, I saw everyone with at least 3 types of the 40+ can packs and they had their fork lift crews reloading the coors light 55 cans for 50 dollars every 10 mins ....

not going to last past Friday./

Hell the membership line had more under 24 people than a club on Friday night.

Well...considering it's a holiday in Quebec today and yesterday was the single day where the most alcohol is purchased in the entire province...coupled with the fact that the strike has ZERO affect on The Beer Store, it was business as usual for them.

Don't worry they planned for this and stock levels will not be an issue.

They said they have extended the deadline indefinitely, and that as long as negotiations continue they will not walk as a gesture of good faith.

Someone point the TO civil service strikers to these guys as an example of how to act responsibly as a union.

Yes because real issues like the isotope shortage, the Caledonia stand-off, pandemic planning, loss of good paying full times jobs should all take a back seat to the *real* issue of selling cheap alcohol. <_<

i'm sure we got enough room there to bring up the privatization of LCBO

lol why is the government in the business of selling alcohol? ok they are running a car company, a totally inefficient public transit system and liquor stores? LOL man does that boggle my mind.
