Who knows a lot and is willing to share? Who takes the time out of their day to answer your questions whenever they can? Nominate your favourite as the most Helpful/Knowledgeable User here and if that user is voted as the favourite during the Voting Period, that user will win a $50 Amazon.ca gift card, a RedFlagDeals.com T-shirt, and a plaque commemorating the achievement!

Last year Cyanne won this award, which means she isn't eligible this year, but feel free to show your appreciation here anyway. :)

There's a new wrinkle in this category this year: we're going to have 3 winners in this category this year! As many as 30 members will be nominated and then randomly placed into 3 polls. The winner of each poll will get the prize pack! So if 24 worthy members are nominated, we will create three polls with 8 nominated members each! We want to highlight as many amazing members as possible!

I nominate alanbrenton who helped me out earlier in the year when I was a newbie. He went out of his way to assist me with a "price matching" which ended up saving me $180. (and I had never had any interaction with him before that incident)

I nominate neksus. I'm sure his tivs.ca website has generated a lot of traffic for RFD, and he's very quick to update it in the blink of an eye the moment a new TIV is posted in the BBV/EB Hot Deals thread. Kleptodathief would be lost without his turds, which I guess neksus and the RFD community brings to light in that thread.

Klepto better nominate me for the 300+ PMs he sends me a day asking me about working at EBGames and the inner workings of the computer systems there. ;)

Yes, neksus. He's been able to keep going with tivs.ca longer than Lone_Prodigy and I did combined on our respective projects. Not to mention he made it more functional, usable, and timely too!

hm... cut 'n paste error? ^LOL

she's not gonna be too happy when she sees that :D

Naw... I'm too understanding and forgiving to be upset (not that it will get me anything this year ;).)

I do have a suggestion though. What's with the random groups to assign three winners? How do you decide who's in which group? Are the groups thematic: helpful/knowledgable/best hair? It seems like it would make more sense to have ONE poll with the 30 candidates, give everyone three votes and give prizes to the top three. Does the board software accomodate that?

I don't think the board can accommodate for 30 poll options. I would assume that the most fair way to have three polls would be to use a random number generator to populate each of the three polls in some uniform, and therefore fair, way.

You are correct. We can't have a poll with 30 options, so the fair way to do it is with 3 random groupings.

I'm not sure I agree that "random" is most fair. This isn't a contest--it's a reward for good work. Perhaps separate them by category; it's hard to compare totally different kinds of contributions anyway. Or maybe you could make sure the individuals with the most nominations are in seperate groups?

neksus all the way! I owe it to TIVS.ca for all the free/cheap games I've got from EB/FS/BBV this year.

Thank you.

If you're looking for totally unbiased and fair voting here, you're looking in the wrong place. It's a popularity contest FFS.

+1 to MrDisco, I know he's already nominated but I agree, his work to maintain stats on the Pepsi winnings is greatly appreciated. I discovered the contest from his signature in an unrelated thread, and that's what got me hooked on contests, I've had a very good first month and a half in winnings thanks to him.

+1 with our recent sour experience in the Pepsi win every hour, I think "random" now has a bad name.

I like Cyanne's idea of at least separating the 3 with the most nominations. It would not be any different than seeding a tournament, so you don't have what should be a final match happening right at the start.

The odds of the top 3 nominations randomly landing is a separate poll is very slim. Less than 1 in 7 or 14% (the same odds of all 3 landing in the same poll). Therefore, the odds of 2 top nominations in the same poll are 6 in 7 or 86% chance.

Isn't it 1/27 (1/3 * 1/3 * 1/3)? Or is my probability a little rusty?
