So it seem that the plastic handles of razors are NOT recyclable. And the companies who make them will NOT take them back. We tried telling them they should consider reusing them for new handles, but this interests them not. Is there somewhere to recycle them (in Toronto area)? Hate to throw them out (not that we can now anyhow...) Appreciate any ideas.

Send them back to the manufacturer with a note that you don't know what to do with their handles since you can't recycle them and maybe they have a use for them. In addition, tell them that you are now buying something more environmental friendly.... Maybe an electric one or one of those with just the disposable blades....

Cost more to recycle than to produce more disposables.

Switch to a safety razor or straight. Waaaaaaay cheaper, better shave, less waste.

We were going to do that, but the postage was as much as buying blades! We just have lots from promos and giveaways, and I've been stashing them hoping the recycling program here would change and start taking them. But it is time they find an other home.

Mostly we do just change the blades, keep the handles. But even those aren't made too well anymore.

That is quite likely...

You use a straight razor on your legs?? LOL
The HE uses a great metal handled one, but there is still the blades, their packaging, their casing, etc.

I'm gonna have to suggest switching to a safety razor as well. And yes, the SHE in my house also uses one. Of course the blades still have packaging, but, if you choose carefully, you do not have to buy supermarket safety razor blades with blister packaging and gimmicky dispenser. Many brands of blades (easily available online for cheap) come packaged only in a wrapper and a small cardboard box for every 5 or 10 blades. Some blades can be purchased in bulk with 100 blades in a plain box.
