Add recording devide to HD receiver?

Hello, I have a Shaw HD receiver.

Without upgrading to the HD-PVR, is there anything I can "add" to my existing box/setup to get recording capability? Like, can I add a seperate box that's a PVR?

Might want to investigate an HD TV card for your PC that accepts cable decoded input...from the box; like a ATSC Hauppauge, then capture the signal on hard drive.
