I don't use it much but it works fine. It's free to call from pc to phones.

Find a Ventrilo server perhaps? Or rent one($3 a month), I use it to keep in touch with friends year round, when they're at home, or out of town at school.

Skype's SILK codec is just awesome, if you're using it for PC-to-PC calls the voice quality in my opinion, is unbeatable.

pc to phones for free?, is it global?
if you are calling from computer to computer, use msn/skype/google talk.

I wonder how free it will be. Once upon a time Skype was free to call real phones.

Yes, it's free. I'm in Toronto, and I just made a couple of quick calls to landlines in Montreal and Vancouver. There's no indication that they will drop the free services anytime soon. I think they use the free services to draw people to use their pay services.
