Semi-pro/pro video cameras

Looking to do some video work for my job. There seems to be a pretty big gap between prosumer units like the Canon Vixia HFS100 and the XH-A1.

I am looking to go tapeless if possible, shooting to SD cards. Audio connectivity is a must, via XLR if possible as well as a shoe for lighting. Low-light shooting will be a lot of what the camera will be used for (not shooting at night, but dim conference rooms, dinner functions etc.), which leads me to believe consumer level cameras won't cut it.

So far, the top pick seems to be the Panasonic AG-HMC40, which will be released either late this month or early next for roughly US$2000. Canon does not have any SD-based professional cameras. JVC has a good unit (GY-HM100U), but it costs like $4000.

I don't technically need HD (video will be primarily on the web), but as far as I can tell, SD cards and HD capabilities come together.

Any ideas?

Also, any place besides Henry's and Vistek I should know about that would carry this kind of equipment in Toronto?
