Looking for reviews on KitchenAid appliances

I was going to get a new cooking range. A KitchenAid range looks pretty good, but I've never used any KitchenAid appliances before. It would be really helpful if anyone can provide me their comments or reviews on experiences of using KitchenAid appliances.

All my appliances are KitchenAid including washer/dryer and they're now going on 10 years without a hiccup.

We are curently looking to buy a Kitchen Aid fridge and Kitchen Aid stove.

The model numbers we are looking at are:

-YKERS807SB (stove)

-KBFS20EVBL (fridge)

We first went to Tasco and spoke with one guy who helped us narrow down our choices (using our wants/needs list) to a GE Profile stove and the Kitchen Aid one above. We did the same for fridges and ended up with a short-list of the above KA, along with one other KA model, and one GE Profile one.

The original prices we got at Tasco were:

-$1970
-$2865

Then we went to Sears and the saleslady gave us the following prices, based on their price match policy and using our Tasco quotes:

-$1920
-$2720

Today we went back to Tasco to see the stuff again in person, and were helped by a different saleslady, who told us that if we bought 2 KA pieces, she'd give a discount of $250.

Also, we mentioned that we wouldn't be able to take advantage of the PST saving on the Energy Star fridge because though we could purchase by Aug 31, we couldn't accept delivery by Sep 30 (which is the only way the rebate applies). After seeing our disappointment about that she mentioned that if we went back to her she would see if she could "do something" to help offset that savings that we couldn't cash in on via the rebate.

Both Tasco and Sears mentioned that they could work the deal to waive the delivery charge. And all sales people that we've spoken to had only good things to say about the KA stuff. I did notice that both Tasco salespeople, had a stronger preferance for KA. The customer service was great at Tasco and in the end the have the lowest price so we may very likely go with them.

I haven't price matched the extended warranties yet so that may also sway us in one way or another.

That's my two cents. Not sure if you are looking at the same models, but hopefully this helps you somewhat. I highly recommend going to Tasco and having a look around (we went to the one in Brampton).

Does anyone think we should bother checking the prices at Quan's or Caplan's at this point or have we found reasonable deals already?

we have a kitchenaid kbrs19 fridge in stainless steel. I don't know about the long term reliability, since it's new, but the motor is consistently turning on and off. A little bit annoying if you're working in the kitchen.

I'm afraid the motor won't last if this keeps up.

Are you sure its the motor and not the compressor? If its the compressor, its normal for it to be on/off all the time, and thats how it keeps the fridge cool.

Some fridges have quieter compressors then others.

I just bought a samsung fridge and it's been really quiet.

It wasn't a recent purchase....it was over 10 years ago, but it's the KitchenAid Superba gas stove with convection oven. Sorry, I don't know the exact model number.

check if your ice-making switch is ON. That will generate noise, esp if fridge is not connected to water.

From my experience - fridge is the most reliable appliance; range from KA potentially might have self-clean fuse problem. Google it!

probably not that... my fridge doesn't have a ice maker. Its a very basic fridge that for the most part does what it should. My only beef is that it's sometimes too loud.

Another problem that has just come up to me. The door opens too wide (there are no 'kinks' in the door to keep it from opening all the way, but that's just a very problem of my particular model.

Hold onto the door while opening it. Works every time.
