Hi
Does anybody know any places that sell Car oil filters for cheap. I think paying $6.20 for a motomaster brand at canadian tire is a little to much.
Thanks,
Chris

Walmart?
I seem to recall paying $4.99 at my local auto parts place for a really good wix filter. This also depends on how common your oil filter is.
Good Luck

Try RCSS, they're clearing and deleting their entire automotive sections in their stores!!!!

You can probably get them cheaper in the States if you're buying bulk.
But are you seriously concerned about spending five or six bux 2-3-4 times a year?
Also factor quality into your equation, since you do get what you pay for. The FRAM products sold @ CT, WM etc. don't seem to get favourable reviews on many oil/filter related blogs/forums etc.
Saving a couple of dollars now may cost you more in the long run if you resort to a low-quality filter.

Yea but isn't motomaster kind of low quality..so it shouldn't be so expensive right?

If price is your only concern, perhaps you could get a used one from CT or WM for a buck...

Yeah, I'd say the cost of fixing the engine for problems caused by bad filters outweighs the cost of a good filter... unless you drive a $200 beater, but then that's a different story.
So far I've only used AC Delco filters on my car, and I think these are OEM WIX filters.

+1 I've only ever used mopar filters or wix ones. IIRC both were cheaper than the offerings at walmart or crappy tire.

There's honestly nothing wrong with Fram filters (be they from CT or WM). Wix makes filters for Napa (Napa Proline/Gold are Wix filters).
As far as other filter options, Auto Parts Plus branded auto supply stores sell Purolator branded filters (No, not the courier company, just another company that makes filter elements).
With Wix filters, you're getting a paper media at the entry level, with blended cellulose and glass at the higher level filters (Gold line, etc.)
With Fram, you get blended glass and cellulose media with their entry level filters, or cross-woven synthetic glass/cellulose media at the "tough guard" level.
Purolator is much the same. Paper then cellulose/blended glass.
The media itself shouldn't be your prime concern, however. The anti-drainback valve should be. Wix filters, I've found have poor valving compared to Fram. Purolator, I haven't seen as much in the aftermarket.
If oil filter quality is a concern, get the OE filters from your dealership. Most dealerships have a discount if you buy in quantities of 3, 6, 12, etc. You also get the filter made specifically for your car, to OE specifications, at a cost that isn't much more than what you'd pay for a Fram, Wix, Napa, etc. filter.

Actually I recall they had Mobil 1 on their shelves at one point. They recently reshuffled all of their stock around.
