rogers internet apeshit slow

Anyone else finding that rogers' 'high-speed' cable internet slowed considerably this morning? My downloads are going at about ... 50kb/s

Mine lags from time to time, mostly at night and late afternoons.

The Rogers website is really crap too, it's slow, and you get an error sometimes.

Mine has been going crazy since last night where it times out for a couple minutes (My upload in BT goes to 0...) and then it comes back :(

A quick speed test this morning for my rogers express service reveals:

That is almost 1 MB/sec download speed.

Actually, 9.92 megabits = 1 269.76 kilobytes.. so its over 1MB/sec

remember, 8 bit = 1 byte

so 8 megabits DOWN = 1 megabyte/sec DOWN

Assuming you have Rogers' Express or Extreme you are paying for 10 megaBITS DOWN. Which translates to 1.28 megaBYTES/second

ISPs always advertise speeds in bits, not bytes. Your browsers and websites always calculate speeds in bytes.

regular downloads or torrents? If torrents, don't use that as a basis for anything as you may find your area is being throttled.

You need digital TV to qualify.

What does one have to do with the other?
It doesnt, but his complaint about his speed made me want to check out rogers' packages.. especially that DSLreports thread. and i found it a little humorous. I didnt mean to thread jack.

You guys are being throttled. Turn off the Torrents, reset modem/router. Get speed back at normal.

Standard Rogers troubleshooting:

1. Reboot your modem.
2. Change the last octet of your MAC address by one to get a different gateway.
3. Stop using the craptastic Rogers DNS servers.
4. Connect directly to the modem, bypassing your router.
