just wondering what the traffic count is like for the Canadian Coupons section.
i know i don't spend as much time in there as i do for hot deals, and so i end up missing some great coupons.
anyone else spending a fair amount of times in the coupons forum?

Considering merging them back. Not sure yet.

I like it right now, it's more organized. I go through a large portion of the forums though so it's not a problem for me about "missing" anything. It helps when you spend around 30-40mins on RFD everytime, cuz it means you'll be able to read everything. Go on a few times and day and you'll be like me.
Oh gosh, I should get a life. A few hours of RFD per day isn't good for me :lol:

i find that i'm not going through as many pages as i was with when the two forums were combined into one.
sure it's marginally more organized, but there's so much crossover (grey area) between what's a Hot Deal and what's a Canadian Coupon, that people can miss out on deals...and as a result, lead to possibly less time and clicks spent on the site.
example: i posted a "Banana Republic 30% Coupon for September 17-17" in the Hot Deals section, and i'm almost certain it garnered more attention than if it was in the Coupons forums.
again, just my thoughts.

Love the new coupons section, it's much more organized and easier to find them. Please don't change a thing. Well done.

To be clear, we're talking about the Coupons Forum http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=109, not Coupons.RedFlagDeals.com

Affirmative, that's what I'm referring to. It's much better.

I'd prefer them to be merged. I keep forgetting there is a Coupons forum because I bookmark Hot Deals and Off Topic and pretty much only stick to those out of habit.

Merge please.
Many coupons are "hot deals" as well in my opinion.
And you already have a Coupons database, so why split the 2 forums when it can be under one since they serve the same purpose?
besides, i dont think many people go over to the Coupons Forum anyways... (judging from view hits)

didn't even realize there is a new Canadian Coupon section
Well, for now I'm okay with the new breakout as it does make Hot Deals cleaner (but then one can miss the Hot Deals as well)
I use "New Posts" 99% of the time, so it doesn't affect me as much
Maybe I just need to add Coupons RSS into my reader as well

I prefered the old way as well, but can't figure out if it's just resistance to change or if the old way was better.
I still hate that the default sidebar location is on the left, and found myself wondering the same thing when that came around.

imo they could go back to hot deals under the category coupons (like automotive, beauty, etc etc), that way for ppl who are only looking for the coupons can quickly get to them by clicking on the "coupons" link.

Just noticed this thread after posting my own on this topic.
I don't think that deals using coupons should be put into the coupon forum.
People would have to go between two forums to check for deals which doesn't seem very organized to me.

I vote for merging back too, I spend much more time on hot deals and the only time I'd ever go to coupon section is when I have a decent staples coupon and want to post it on that thread, even then, i get too lazy to go all the way there just to post the coupon.

Put them back. I am missing out on alot of coupon deals because they are not in Hot Deals. I particularly think the Costco coupons should be in Hot Deals because they are more of a Hot Deal than coupons since they can't be used elsewhere.

What the HELL is this crap???
Terrible idea mods & admins...terrible.
PLEASE merge back. Honestly, What's the point? This just makes it easier for people who don't even participate on RFD to glean yet more information.
For us RFD users, we have a system to which a merged set-up is ideal, so please give us the standard hot deal forum.
please?

I didn't like the fact that the coupons were separated, however I did like the fact they were easy to find.
With the merge, could we add a tag in for coupons, so that they could be easily searched and sorted?

I cannot find the thread in the forum. I used to just go to canadian coupons, and there is a thread for staples. Now if you click on coupons, I see pictures and stuff. Wasn't that option already available? What happened to discussion about coupons?!?!?!?!

The staples thread is right here:

You might want to subscribe (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/subscription.php) to it, so you can easily find it without searching.

You can already tag threads, so if people tag threads as "coupons" you can see all threads with that tag.

Sweet, the staples thread is back into hot deals, now it'll be easier for me to post coupons when i get them on wednesdays! Are you going to add a Coupon tag, like elec, comp, etc onto the hot deal forum for coupons?

No, it would be really confusing because you can only have one category.
You can use the thread tagging function as I mentioned in my last post.

It's great to see the coupon deals in the hot deals section again, but I really don't think the threads telling people that a coupons exists and whereabouts should be put there. Can they be put back in the freebies' section?
Eg:
Printable Coupons Thread
or the
Coupons from Save.ca, P&G brandSaver & GoCoupons.ca Thread
Those are free items that don't really specify a deal
I personally liked the coupons forum. Now I find it hard to find the coupon deals.
Perhaps a new icon can be used such as the the letter "C" can be placed on threads that use coupons, in the hot deal forum, so people know

This was a good move. I did miss a lot of deals because of coupons.
Just this week, I was googling homesense and then I noticed there was a coupon on a competing site. I was like, weird, I didnt see that deal on RFD. But after searching RFD I realized it was buried in the coupon section.
Good move :D

This way, if a coupon has an expiry, when the deal is posted, the expiry date can entered, automatically shunting the coupon off to "expired deals" when it's over.
The fact that something is a sale price, new lower normal price, coupon, mail-in-rebate etc., doesn't matter as much as finding about what the deal is for, how much savings / final cost, and then what the form factor is.
Perhaps if deals had a field for "mail-in-rebate", "sale price", or "coupon" or "price match required" etc, people could filter out what they don't like... if you don't want to bother with deals that require MIR, then a flag on the account to not show them?
I'm sure there's something that could be done to get the best of both worlds, with a "deal type" field and expiry date and some filter settings in the search page and on user profile pages.

Did I miss something or some type of announcement? I can't find the coupon section nor the expired coupon section either. I liked going there every once in a while to print off my stash then come back for more later.
