Hi all,
Just want to ask the experts out there a question.
My child received a threatening letter printed by a printer. I am obviously pissed. It is pretty obvious who wrote the letter.
Is it possible to track the letter back to this person's computer/printer?

Technical aspect only,
Under usual/normal circumstance,
Data from hard drives can be recovered.

Yes it is possible, each printer has a photo imaging drum and there are micro imperfections.

However, it is not worth the trouble. It is not something you can easily do. Probably easier to get a finger print off the paper.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping the police could do some CSI thing and catch this little bugger red handed. I thought they could trace the paper back to the printer. I was reading some stuff about yellow dots.

He has been bothering my son for awhile now and my son found the note in his backpack. It was one of those, watch your back/i'm going to get my daddy after you, type letters and my son is freaked out that the dad is going to come after him.
I guess something are better left alone...and move on.
