I had to make do with room lighting in the past, and even though I 'embraced' the noise, shooting at 800-1600 iso on a A200 RAW when indoors, with noise reduction done via noise ninja, the pictures still weren't what they could be. Built-in camera flash was not an option. I still got great pics considering the lighting conditions, but really it's a lot more work then needed.

What a difference having a real flash makes, bouncing off the ceiling. I'm sure everyone who's taken photography a while know this full well already, but for those who are just starting or plan on getting into it, get a real flash now. Proper lighting is at least as important as the lens itself and makes taking photos so much easier. Playing with lighting is fun:cheesygri.

Too bad that the Sony flashes are outrageously priced...can't justify one ATM.

Congrats ;)

$270 for a 42AM isn't overpriced
