Hi,

I got Bell Tv over the weekend, the deal I got was the program package with my home phone bundled. With extra savings. I searched the other deals and I think this is a very good offer.
I had to choose between either renting the receiver or buying the receiver. I took note of both and will let you know what they are.
For renting the receiver I get $10 off my total bill for 12 months which is essentially $120 off my bill and then I will get a onetime $100 credit for getting an HD receiver. If I got the SD receiver then I would have saved $50. For renting a second HD receiver I am only paying $3.
The deal for buying the receiver was that I would get 2 SD receivers for free instead of renting it. I looked up the model of the SD receiver and I think it can also be used as an HD receiver.
For both renting and buying the receiver I get 2 months free of one of the premium movie packs. Plus I will get another $75 back after installation.
I also got 3 months of Bell internet for free.
I got it through a local bell representative, you can call them at 416-949-3514.
This offer is good all across Canada.

Looks like their Internet offering is still not quite there (high-speed DSL) for Alberta, or at least Edmonton... but I might still inquire about Bell TV - been thinking of switching from Shaw for a while now.

Can you be clearer on what you are getting for $30/month? It sounds like you are saying you are getting HD TV (with receivers) + Home Phone + internet (for 3 months), but that sounds a bit too good to be true.

What is the $30 included, phone + TV + Internet, OR just the TV? Did you sign any contract?

no idea what idea you're talking about, their internet is rather decent... but IMO this sounds like a crappy cough up for those that cannot get the Bell Entertainment package. I mean would can really honestly admit to saying 30mbs is bad speed....

Rogers isnt EVEN close.

The $30 is for Bell TV, and I do not work for Bell or get commission. But this is a deal through one of their dealers that is why you can not get it from Bell directly.

We'll basically it's because Bell is a media company... they don't want you to use the internet for anything that will cut out some profit from them.
To do this, they have really small caps on the amount you can download from the internet and they throttle (ie: watch and slowdown) everything you download.
Bell never did this before - when people just downloaded music... why? Because they don't sell music! They do, of course, sell TV, and movies in pay per view - so when people started sharing movies, they started to cut people off.
That's why you should never trust Bell for anything - especially your internet. It might be movies and torrents they filter now, but everything will be up for grabs in the future.
BTW, I know you quoted the fiber speed for downloads - but who cares if you can download lightning fast, when the cap is at 60G? You might as well stick with DSL! It's like having a sports car with a gas tank the size of a walnut.

thats what the 30$ extra cost is for, putting that into account you can get the basic IPTV plan (50$) and 30$ on top, 80 bucks for HDTV and 30mbs UNLIMITED... and as for thorttling, I've been with bell for 9 years.... its rare for it to happen. but if it does, it's easy to divert and youll get full speed again. Only thing that's terrible with bell is their billing dept... by far one of the worst... but when you tell them they suck... literally... they'll always give you a month or two free in return. I've never had problems with accepting free services for couple months with refund of charging errors.

Just watch out their bills. I have so much frustration with their billing and the credit they offered and promised. Believe or not, I didn't get THE discount for over one year of the contract term even with the monthly complaint call ! Can't wait to cancel.

Probably an 18" dish.

Anyways, what's the cap in this deal? I remember Bell internet, it wasn't faster than what I have now (Teksavvy) and after my contract ran out, the cap was 30 gigs. Teksavvy is $30/month for the same speed with 200 GB of cap. I think the cheapest way to go would be with some cheap internet company like Teksavvy or Acanac and combine it with a Dishnet satellite or Direct TV but it would probably be a hassle to set it up and you'd have a high initial charge.

I spent 2 years fighting bell over a 3 month free Bell ExpressVu retention offer ( pure stubborness on my part) I call a lawyer and he said if after 2 years they have not taken you to small claims court that Bell is outside of their window of opportunity to take you to court. If it came between no TV or Bell, I would take NO TV. Will never deal with this incompetent company again in my lifetime.
Ironically, they sent me a letter this week asking me to come back to them - HA

Bell screwed up my first few bills. When I called them the first two times they didn't have any record of my calls or any notes on my account of what I talked to them about. Annoying the first time, very crappy the second.

On the third call I'm like 'did you get all that? Is it actually written in there somewhere?'

Any new deals to go with Bell for TV and Internet???

Now before everyone goes on again about how Bell sucks, all of the previous comments are about 10X worse with Rogers (billing, customer service issues etc.)

If you have to deal with them, document the ticket number and the CSR name, and explicitly ask them whether the conversation (offer) is recorded in the ticket or not. Then follow up with another call to confirm.
Or just avoid deal with them all together.

Moving to a new house in the new year and this is what bell offered me as their special Boxing Day Promotion:
Home Phone with CD, CW and VM + $0.15/minute long distance with no system access fee (since when is there a system access fee to make a long distance call?)
Internet 6MB with 25 GB usage cap
TV - 1 HD PVR, 2 HD receivers + Local with 6 theme packs
All this for a 2 year commitment.
All of this for $150.92 per month
What are your opinions? I have not called Rogers yet.

The CSR said that this offer might not exist in the new year... but is it a good offer?

30$ with Two rented HD receivers is a wrong offer.

It goes like this

If Bell call you and give you an offer = Wrong/Misleading Offer
If you call Bell at official number and get an offer = Correct Offer

When Sales reps or Dealers call you, they will agree on anything you say.

I know this because I do Bell Satellite TV Installations, and I deal with this stuff daily

Imelda_Acanac
Dec 22nd, 2009, 09:43 AM
Acanac internet fees include installation and Bell techs
are usually the ones who go to the customers homes
if needed. Bell tv includes installation on contract.
Their prices depend on the province and bundle.

That's pretty much their standard regular price if bill separately.

You can do better by using different vendor for each of these services instead of relying on Bell.

You can save another $20 off, if you know where to shop, for the best price to service ratio.

Believe me, you haven't seen their billing and customer service department until you have to dealt with them, it's mind boggling unbelievable.

Having spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Bell customer service for billing errors over a 4 month period, I learned ONE thing: don't trust Bell for pricing information, unless you have it in writing. (They refused to confirm their pricing in writing before I signed up)

Bell is one place you love to hate.

The following statement best describes Bell customer service: at Bell, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
