I have never purchased from them, but if you're in GTA, Toronto, Tech Direct Canada is offering:
- Refurbished Sony PSP for $114.99 (not sure if this is hot);
- McAfee antivirus for $9.99;
- Etc.

Better to get a new one via one of EBs trade offers. Saw the banner in store yesterday but cannot remember what the details were - it was good though...

Yep - spend the $170 for a new unused PSP. Skip the PSP Go, is is a POS - Google a comparison between the PSP and PSP Go, and you will see that it is worth getting the PSP instead. I have 2 PSPs.

Umm, the PSP Go is not a POS - it's actually a very well built unit. That said, it is a tough sell in a bad economy where there is no upgrade path for existing PSP owners. It does represent the future, though, where all our games will come via digital distribution.
Consider this, even if the Go is not a mass-market success, they might have better profit margins since they won't have the same level of piracy-bleed that they currently have...

Never count the pirates out. It actually seems like it would be easier to pirate these games, but I wouldn't know.

i dropped by their store at dundas st and saw this. they're the slim ones and they look decent. at least the one on display inside the cabinet. i didn't get it bc i already got one from eb's trade 4 promo.

Hey, isn't that just like the launch PS3? Future-proof, but overpriced.

Which was a much better deal, if you're willing to go with a used unit. New units can be had for not much more than this price.

The best deterrent to piracy is lower prices - like the $5 PSP games at WM last month. Removing the cost of manufacturing and distributing actual physical media, how low can Sony drop their d/l prices? Practically every $ spent will go straight to their bank account, cutting out the retailer and distributor middlemen.

Too many companys use the work "refurbished" instead of "used" when clearly the units have not been refurbished. I've bought a "refurbished" console from EB games before that was dirty when I opend the box.

+1. i had to return the first psp i got from the eb deals because it was really dirty. even the battery compartment was full of dusts. it was obviously not refurbished.

The "refurb" orig XBOX that I got from them was really gross. They could have at least wiped down the exterior with a damp cloth!
My friend got one with a dead p/s cord (blown circuit breaker). They'd obviously never even plugged it in to check it out.

Can't agree more! But I'll doubt they'll drop their DL price, unless the GO sales suck badly... :twisted:
