There are 14 stores selling that computer on pricebat. The most expensive store has it at $842.13. This price, 969.37 is more more than a hundred bucks on top of that? The shopping channel hey?

That's not the same machine.
The one selling on the shopping channel a new model, just recently announced. Amazon.com's preorder price is $800 US, for reference. I don't see any other Canadian retailers to compare to.

I bought the 5738z (non touch screen and t4200 cpu) from Staples. The backlight LED LCD does look awesome!

I saw this on the shopping channel last night. It was ok. In a few cases, the guy doing to presentation had to tap the screen a few times to get it to work either because of an accuracy issue with using his fingers or a sensitivity issue with the hardware.
Does anyone think that having a touchscreen is going to be better than using a mouse or pad?
Imho, it seems like a novelty to me. First off, you're going to constantly be cleaning the lcd. Secondly, you're not going to get the same kind of accuracy that you would with a pointer and last, it takes less work to use a mouse or pad than to move your hand around from one part of the lcd to another.
