hey everyone

i have 21 credits done and i'm currently upgrading my high school marks this term. my gpa is at 2.78 and i'm aiming for a 85+ average. do you guys think it'd be possible to get accepted into ubc's faculty of art or fine arts (but i have to apply for arts before fine arts...). or should i just postpone another year and take more courses at my university and try to increase my gpa?

If you haven't already, you may want to check out UBCs website regarding transfers. Here's the link for you: https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/vancouver/cdnuniversity.ezc#gar

You mentioned you're upgrading some highschool marks, but something to keep in mind is that after 24 credits (and you mentioned you have 21) of post-secondary education your high school marks will not be looked at, only your post-secondary marks will be considered. As far as I know, you don't get to pick and choose which marks will be considered.

You might want to consider calling or emailing UBCs admissions office to find out how competitive the admission process is before making any decisions on which direction to take. For example, if the minimum entrance GPA is 2.5, will a 2.78 be sufficient to be admitted? If a 2.5 gpa is the minimum for consideration the cutoff for acceptance may be much higher than that.

I hope this helps, and like I mentioned, I think it would be a really good idea for you to call the admissions office and ask some questions. That's what they're there for.
