Trying to decide on a graduate school for CS

I'm trying to decide on a graduate school for Computer Science but I haven't been able to decide. I've narrowed it down to UofT, UW or York. I'd prefer to remain in Toronto so UofT would be my first choice. With regards to York, how good are they for Computer Science? What about other universities around the Toronto area?

Also, I'm looking to do a part time program while working full time to fund it as well as my rent. Has anyone had experience with that?

I am a current graduate student in CS. Based on my experiences going to conferences, reading papers, etc., I would suggest you look at the following schools:

- UWaterloo (very strong)
- UVic (A lot of great research coming out of that school)
- UBC
- Queen's (Dr. Hassan just got a RIM NSERC industrial research chair in CS!)
- UToronto

What area of CS are you most interested in? Programming languages, databases, large scale systems, reengineering, HCI, biomedical, medical imaging (there are many more). Some schools are stronger in one area than others.

I'm looking primarily at HCI and software engineering as my focal point. On what exactly, I'm trying to nail that down.

Reason why I'm considering York is that it's in Toronto, it has a part-time program which could possibly allow me to work, and my grades aren't as strong. My project/research courses in CS were excellent but other courses are somewhat average - hence I'm not sure if I can get in to those strong schools. :S I do have working experience - will that be taken into account?
