Cant connect DSi to internet....ahhhh!

I keep getting this message..Unable to obtain IP address. error code 052003-1
please check the wi-fi USB connection registration tool on your PC to grant permision.
I have a d-link wireless router (dir-625) & a nintendo wi-fi usb connector.
Do i NEED the wi-fi conector if i already have a wireless router?

the tech support says try up-grading the router firmware..i havent tried that yet.
then i read i need to change the WEP code or WPA code & my son says we dont have one ?...HUHHH?

He is NO Help!

I feel like an idiot b/c the youtube tutoriols on how to do this are made by 12 yr old boys!...lol :o
Can it really be this hard?

I don't have a DSi but I'll try to help the best I can. Firstly, you shouldn't need a USB Wifi dongle or something since the DSi already has built in wireless.

Firstly, you should try connecting to your wireless access point using the DSi. Here's a link:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4890413_connect ... ernet.html

If there's no password to that, then you should be connected.

theguy..i followed those steps..& am still getting "Unable to connect to the access point"

I see my SSID (network name) with an open lock, so i click it..

so now in Connection one..it says "set-up complete"..but it just wont connect.
there is an advanced set-up button but not sure what that does?

Hmm, that's really weird. You can see if there is actually a password to your wireless network. Open up your browser, type in 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, then it will ask for user and password.

If you've never set up your user and password to your router it would probably be a default password. Tell us the router model or look around in Google for the default user and password.

Once you've found the user and pass, look around the settings of your router for anything about Wireless Security. You'll be able to see whether there's a password or not.

If there is a password, temporarily delete/disable it and then try connecting.
If there is no password then I have no idea...I'll look around for more info.

I already accessed the router & couldnt find anything resembling WEP or WPA
or wireless security.
..I really wish my son would help me with this since HE is the one that set up the router. (its is a d-link dir-625)

anywho...our user name is admin...our password is a 10 digit word
our SSID is a 8 digit word...

Soooo..you want me to delete the password? This part is confusing me.

based on your statement, the password you're talking about is the one used to get into your router settings. this is NOT the same as a password used to access your wireless. so deleting that password will not accomplish anything.

what router (make/model) do you have? if you can tell us this then we should be able to direct you to the wireless configuration page.

Sorry, I was talking about the WEP/WPA password not the log on password.

Check whether your router is set to "G only" or "N only", if it is, set it to all/any.

"Nintendo WFC is compatible with 802.11b. Because 802.11g and 802.11n routers are also compatible with 802.11b, these routers will work as well, as long as the router's settings are not set to "g only" or "n only"."

You can also try creating a WEP password, maybe that'll somehow work?

Here's a link to your manual: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir625/Maun ... al_101.zip

Look for "Wireless Security Wizard" and follow the steps.

Once you set up the WEP, try connecting your DSi again. If it still doesn't work, make sure to delete the WEP password or else your family/friends can't use the wifi.

I'll try to look again later once I get home.
