View Full Version : Future Shop / Best Buy Windows 7 NO DELIVERY

Has anyone else had their order sitting in "Your order has been electronically processed" status? I talked to a rep at Canada Post this morning and she informed me that Future Shop has received a tracking # by electronically submitting the order but has not yet shipped the order so Canada Post has nothing to deliver. It is Monday October 26 and still sitting in the same status. I contacted Future Shop and they said there is nothing they can do. I asked them to contact a manager to get them to sell me a copy at the same price I ordered it online. I purchased mine for $64.99 back in July during the 50% off promo. Future Shop said they would not honor that price and that it was not sent yet because there were so many orders. I informed them that all of my friends that ordered through Amazon have received it. Basically Future Shop left me with the "too bad so sad" attitude. The guy I talked to was compassionate but got no cooperation when he talked to people above him and when he called the store.

I told him I would be willing to purchase another copy in store at the cheaper price if they could arrange it. I planned some time aside this weekend just for this new OS and now I am hooped.

Anyone else out there with a similar situation?

I have not yet received mine either, but I'm debating if I should go ahead and upgrade on my acer notebook, not sure how easy to grab the win7 drivers. Gonna check on acer website for drivers before I do anything.

My Window 7 order from FS was shipped on Wed and I got it on Thur (release date). I also ordred it during the promo back in August. No issues here.

if your order has been electronically processed your TN will probably start functioning tomorrow as CP would pick it up today

I ended up buying it at full price in store today at the suggestion of a manager. She assured me that when my copy arrives I can return it to her store with the receipt from the one I bought today and get my money back for the full price one. Anyway I installed it on a system that had some older components and it had drivers for all of them. If there are drivers for vista then they will most likely work on 7. So I wouldn't be too concerned. Have you run the Windows 7 Compatibility program yet? That should help let you know what will and won't work.

Pre-ordered months ago, still no sign of it. When I called in they said many people have been affected because they miscalculated the Windows 7 release. Seems a very simple thing for them to blow it so badly, but it just reinforces that Future Shop & Best Buy don't really get how pre-orders are supposed to work.

Does the order page in your account give a tracking number? If it does, then most likely they shipped it. The CP tracking site also says their reps see the same information, so if it says that the info was electronically submitted, then that's all they know too.

On the bright side, that means FS printed off the label (to get the shipping number), and the info is sent to CP. Whether FS stuck the label on and physically shipped it is another matter. Chances are, they shipped it, and CP hasn't updated the tracking. I pre-ordered a DVD once, and CP already delivered it, and yet the tracking page still says the info was electronically submitted. So, for you, the package may be on it's way, but the tracking isn't updated.

My problem is, I pre-ordered from Staples, and I haven't gotten anything yet.

I called Staples and was told they were being shipped via UPS (starting on Oct 22). Was also told that I should receive it by this Thursday (Oct 29). I'll call again if I don't receive it by then.

I don't mind getting it a week after release day; I paid half retail afterall.

I guess that sucks if you still haven't received yet. I was lucky enough to get it on the day of the release by mail from FS.

But the point of a preorder is to get yours on release date or at least a day after. I as well paid half of retail from staples and I'm frustrated that I haven't gotten mine yet as they're for friends (I got mine free from MSDN at school).

Patience is a virtue. There is no benefit to receiving software on release day. In fact, we'd be better off upgrading months after initial release, once bugs are worked out and updates/service packs released.

It seems to me, the point of pre-ordering was to get it at half price. Any more than five business days after release day, then I'd be choked (as it was prepaid months ago, afterall). If you really wanted it on release day, pay full price in store - on release day. It's a piece of software; even if the demand for it is really high, someone will have it in stock.

I received mine on Oct 28; four business days after release day.
