Hey All,

After a new house purchase I'm replacing the AC / Furnace I've had a couple quotes come in and I wanted to get the forum's opinion on the one I'm considering. That being from a Lennox / Carrier distributor, A1. Mostly I'm interested in folks thoughts on the models, I've got a 1500sqft home with double brick walls, little/no insulation. Doorways will make it difficult to get the AC into the backyard and therefore the fellow recommended a smaller unit, anyhow here's the beef,

Lennox 13ACX-24 ( AC )
Lennux G61V-70 ( Furnace )
Lennox HC10 ( Filter )
Aprilaire AA600 ( Humidifier )

The quote approx $9,500 before rebates and such. Any thoughts on these particular models? Cheers!

Phil

Let's assume that the furnace is a 70k btu range and that your A/C unit is a 2.0 ton at most. I'd say that if there is not ductwork or extra installation charges and you are adding a thermostat to the equation, you're probably at least $1000.00 to high including gst and that's a rough amount. I'm not factoring any rebates at this point.

Both Lennox and Carrier are great brands so you won't go wrong with either one. Get more quotes since there is usuall no charge for quotes. Keep in mind that price isn't everything, look into the installers and dealers for that matter.

Thanks, I've gotten quotes from A1 and Atlas, I'd get more quotes however I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with one of these. This particular quote includes upgraded filter and two story chimney lining, no duct work. Removal included. Also, I believe that furnace is 66K BTU.

Just as a reference point, we recently installed a 125,000 BTU Carrier NG Furnace and a 7.2 (7.5, not sure) gpm NG hot water heater.

Equipment + installation (including all Natural Gas hook ups) + an extra run to the backyard for the new bbq was: $9100.

Do you recall the brand/model of water heater? Is it tankless?
