Tefal (or is it T-fal) have a great fryer which uses about a tablespoon of oil to fry french fries, chicken and much more. I have tried it in the UK last month and it is really impressive. Now I am looking for one in Canada
I have seen it online for US$299 (I saw a free shipping coupon somewhere as well, not sure where I found it)

http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/ProductDetail.aspx?R=255036&ccaid=FNFROOG255036

But I am looking in Canada to find it. Only seen it in one location (downtown Vancouver) of The Bay and it was about $360 Canadian

I think some Home Outfitters have them (maybe Montreal) but not GVR.
If anyone sees this actifry please let me know the price.
I know it's expensive but having tried it I am willing to invest in it. I just wish I could find a good deal on it. Does The Bay ever have discount days on kitchen appliances?

Tefal (or is it T-fal)

It's T-Fal, says so right in your linked page.

According to T-Fal, this is where you can buy the ActiFry:

Or you can pay a lot more at Costco (http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10329764&whse=BCCA&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BCCA|103|90|749&N=4009486%204294967044&Mo=1&No=0&Nr=P_CatalogName:BCCA&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-CA&Sp=C&hierPath=103*90*749*&topnav=) :(

Added: What you save on eBay will buy you a year's membership at Costco

Yep. In the UK, where it was originally released, it's Tefal. Looks like it may be T-fal here and US.

Thanks. I never checked ebay. I only checked the official Tefal (UK) and T-fal (USA/Canada) and only found them in The Bay here on the West Coast. Not a bad price on ebay

It's fantastic. I tried one I purchased as a gift for a friend in UK. The fries are really crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. They take a while to cook (maybe 35 mins or so depending on load) and only make small batches, maybe for two people. I only tried the fries cooked in this machine, not tried chicken or other foods, but they were great. My kids loved them. They tasted less fatty than deep fat fries.
The actifry is expensive but having tried the fries I am willing to pay as I would use it regularly as the food tasted good and it's healthier as it really does use less fat.

If you're willing to wait, maybe Caynes Housewares will have carry it soon... They do carry some T-Fal products, and their prices are pretty good -- http://www.cayneshousewares.com/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=71

Personally, I wouldn't buy one from eBay. They may be UK models and the warranty may not be valid here. Plus if you buy from an authorized dealer with a decent credit card, it'll add another year to the warranty.

Ok I waited for this machine for long, I saw it in England as well - where you could buy it for 125 Pounds. I really like it but $300 is kind of too much. $200 is fair price for this. Has anybody tried it yet?

Ive been reading a few reviews and people generally really like the fries/chips that they make.
Ive heard its loud but usually cooking dinner can be a bit loud.
Someone had the paddle in the cooking compartment crack but T-Fal replaced it no problem.

Id like to hear more reviews if someone out there as used one.

The store is called "Kitchen to Table".
They have a website but havent gone there yet.

We actually tested an activefry against another T-Fal fryer at work, you can find the video at http://site.btvancouver.ca/video/

Look under the March 2010 Header then the video is " Healthy Delicious Deepfried foods" you might need to scroll across to find the video as it's not on the front page of "March 2010"

This is now $239 at Costco.ca. Which bests eBay. Still $300 at Sears.
