Background information about me:

- 4th year University student in the BBA program, planning to do my CGA after graduation
- Intermediate Skill level in Japanese (JLPT level 2).
- Purpose of applying to one of these program is to improve my conversation skills and be able to use advance grammar that I've learned.
- It has been my dream to travel and experience the living style in Japan, and I love speaking Japanese.

The Situation that I'm in:

- Up until now, I was planning to go for an exchange to Kyoto, Japan (I would not mind delaying my graduation by 1-2 semesters), but recently, I was told about BooBooSki, a legit working holiday program by my Japanese teacher. So now, I have a choice of either applying for BooBooSki or an exchange.

The problem is I don't know which one I should go for?

Analysis that I've done by myself: (Welcome to say you agree/disagree)

- Going to both Exchange and Working Holiday seems to be a bit too much as Japanese will not directly be beneficial to my career. Without an excellent command of Business Japanese, I think it is hard for me to secure a job that requires Japanese.

- JET or other English teaching program is nearly impossible for me as I'm not a native English speaker.

Advantages for going to exchange ONLY:
- can live in Japan while completing my degree
Opportunity cost is Zero income for 1-2 semesters.

Advantage for joining the Working holiday program:
- Get job experience + some spending money while living in Japan
However, those job positions are not very beneficial to my career. Please see here: http://www.boobooski.com/summer.html

Please give me some opinions on which option will benefit me the most.

Thanks in advance.

that sounds really cool and I been wanting to go to Japan to teach english for a while now.

I was wondering how is your experience in studying for JLPT? Did you find it useful for learning to speak Japanese? I heard some say its very good and then some say its kinda outdated in the vocab it teaches.

If your ultimate goal is to work in Japan, I don't think boobooski would boost your chances at all.

Japanese companies are VERY skeptical about hiring foreigners, so if you do land a non language-teaching/food/entertainment job, chances are it'll be for a foreign company or a Japanese company with major foreign operations.

Going to Kyoto would allow you to establish contacts in Japan and immerse yourself in a much more 'traditional' Japanese-speaking environment.
