Yeah, I'm on the fence right now. I am waiting for LN40B610 deals on boxing week but this one seems pretty good. Usually LG < Samsung but what do you guys think about this tv? I can't seem to find reviews on amazon.com.

Still about 200$ cheaper then FS (on sale at 999 right now).

How good is this TV and price? Thanks!
If you don't mind a HUGE gap between the video and audio over HDMI, then buy it.
I was a big LG fan before their latest 120/240Hz models, but these HDMI sync issues are absolutely insane - I witnessed it first-hand on both the LH40 120Hz and LH55 240Hz models and it's virtually unwatchable.

Personally, I think it's a problem with the video processor and is not a "system setting" issue like many have stated. My LH40 fluctuated like mad, from full synch to a good second to two ahead/behind, all within the same BR movie.
The same with a friend's (now returned) LH55 240Hz, the audio sync and echo was driving him crazy so he called me over to look at it. Once I heard it, and showed him a few thousand Google hits from people with the exact same problem, he dragged it back to FS ASAP.
I think this is why this LG 120Hz TV is on sale - it has a HORRIBLE word-of-mouth right now and most customers are avoiding LG (for good reason IMO) like the plague. I wouldn't be surprised to see a TON of these on fire-sale during Boxing Day.

Maybe I am lucky.. I just got the LH41 today.... don't seem to have any audio/ video problems yet..
1) Put a high-end Blu-ray movie in like Dark Knight.
2) Equalize your home theater and TV audio so you can hear both easily.
3) Listen for very noticeable lag/difference in audio.
4) Once you see it, like banding, you will notice it forever.
The audio sync seems to be perfect with any input other than HDMI and was very noticeable with BR movies. I watched Kill Bill on both the LH40 and LH55, and the audio sync and echo was horrible. But Rogers Cable on co-ax, my XB360 over component, Wii over component, etc. were all perfect.

And if any potential buyers want more information on this issue, as well as the fact the LG Support has fully admitted there are serious sync issues on their latest 120/240 Hz models, check out this thread:

Not thread-crapping, just posting information that I (and probably my friend) would have liked to see before having to drag back a pair of LG 42LH40 and 42LH55 models.

When I looked at LG's website before hitting the order button on this deal, I didn't see any difference in the specs of H41 vs L40... other than the last digit in the model name, of course.

Sorry I don't know too much about this model. I was looking for a Samsung 37" TV for my bedroom and when this deal came around I grab it.
As for the audio sync problem, I attached the Asus O! play to it and it seem fine to me or at least not noticeable to me.

I'm in K-W. In any case, if I buy locally shipping is zero. Moreover with MyAXS if there was a problem with the TV and I wanted to return it I'd be $200 out of pocket. That's almost 30% of the purchase price.

I'm in Montreal, and shipping for the LG 42LH41 is $126, which I think kills this deal. If I choose the 42" LG Plasma, shipping is only $56 and the 42" RCA LCD is $48. Are we getting gouged for shipping on this particular 'deal' or could there be a legit reason such as it coming from a different origin?

47LH41 $66
47LH90 $120

Shipping to Quebec is excessive and from 699 to price jump to 1000, that kill the deal, and i heard that the shipping is done by a Sameday company and not purolator as mentioned on the site. but what frustrate me is when you try to pick up a 47" tv or a bigger model the shipping cost doesn't exceed 75$ , that show that Myaxs team takes by the left hand what are giving us by the right one.

$60.39 to Mississauga for 42LH41
Shipping to downtown Toronto is also $60.39, so I would assume it's the same price for the entire GTA.
Sucks how MyAxs overcharges for shipping outside of GTA. Maybe we should start putting "Hot for GTA only" in every MyAxs thread title.

at first when I saw this deal, I set a reminder for myself to buy it today/tomorrow, but think about the return policy, warranty support etc , it is probably not worth it, I would rather wait for a good deal from local BB and FS and in fact, at Costco which comes with 2 yr warranty and 90 day return.

well according to the website u can return it if theres a problem from their side or the product is defective but not sure if dead pixels count..
u also have 30 days to return it but youd have to pay the shipping..i guess returning it to their office yourself would be out of the question since theyre just a middleman?
i dont know of any wide spread issues with these LG 120Hz set besides the hdmi synch issues? but thats an easy fix apparently

Please tell me how - only the real old models allow access to the service menu and there are people in the US waiting 6+ weeks for an LG tech to come over to flash theirs and adjust the settings.
The "fix" requires a brand new firmware flash and an LG service remote. That's hardly "easy" given the long wait times.

That's good news, but the reason they're being forced to liquidate these is that because of the well-known and documented problems, the LG name is pretty well DOA in HDTVs right now. No one will by them for any amount near a similar-spec Sansung, Toshiba, Sony or Sharp. Even if there is a "fix" no one trusts them and it's been "stay far away from LG" at most of the high-end AV forums.
Since LG screwed the pooch so bad on their latest 120/240Hz models, and cooked their brand name for a few years, their TVs are hitting rock bottom prices. What we're seeing up here is nothing compared to the US, where this TV can sell for $599.

Mine is 4.30.1
Bring up the menu using the remote, then highlight the "options" button (don't go into it), then type in 1111111 (seven ones). This will bring up a small window with the version number and update number
I have not seen a lip sync issue yet. I'm using a LG BD300 Bray player and a WDTV Live through a Denon789 HDMI connection.
The only anoying part is that somtimes I can see that the image is shaking or jumping pixels on quick camera moves. I'm planning to disable True Motion to see if it makes a difference...

Mine did that too - do you have Kill Bill 1 on BR? If so, then go to the part where Uma flies into Japan to face Lucy Lui - check out the nose of the plane during the descent and check if the scene halts, then starts up again.
I was watching that on my 42LH40 and it was totally jarring - I did it over and over and over, and the video herky-jerky halted at the exact same spots. Along with the HDMI audio sync issues, that was the part that got me boxing up that beast and returning it to FS - KB1 jerked along on my friend's 240Hz LG42LH90 as well and it's a known issue with these TVs.
There are theories that the LG video processor just can't handle a lot of heavy data, and jitters/jumps/halts a bit during certain high-bitrate sequences.

No, my LH40 was manufactured after Aug 20 and had the HDMI sync issue, despite having the same firmware version as you. The only solution that I have seen is to force whatever HDMI device you are hooking up to it to output (higher-quality) PCM audio instead of Dolby Digital. This solves the HDMI sync issue completely.
Despite this rather large annoyance (it took me awhile to figure this out, and I would have returned it if I didn't find it), I still think the LH40 has the best PQ of any comparably priced TV.

I have placed a deposit on the TV and am truely excited to buy one - its 1000$ at FS. I am getting -200$ from the parents for Xmas so lucky me gets it at 800$.
Sorry to hear you had problems with it Vinman ;( that sucks, ill definitly give KB1 a run on BR when I get it....im hoping seeing im not getting the TV till Dec23rd that I get one of the updated firmware models. Thanks for pointing these things out - for the price im paying it isnt going to deterr me back to the researching table. I have looked all over for a 1080P 120hz 42"+ TV's for less then 1000 and this is the only decent namebrand other then Insignia. I saw a 40" toshiba but 40" is too small (thats what she said). ;)
either way so basically just thought id drop a thanks to fv and vinman for theyr info on the TV... ill definitly check the version.
is 4.30.1 the latest???
