View Full Version : Men Only Gyms?

arawas

There seems to be a good amount of female only workout gyms or at least a female only area in the gym.

Why not for men? For some of the same reasons that women use to justify all-female areas and organizations, (privacy, freedom from feeling self-conscious in the company of the opposite sex, the feeling that you can talk and behave in a way that you wouldn't in the company of the opposite sex, etc.)

Does anyone know of such a gym that exists? Preferably in Mississauga

I think there are a number of temples in Mississauga where the sexes are segregated and there is a lot of bending, rocking, etc. Kind of like a unisex workout class. :)

Personally I'd only go to a fitness club if there were lots of healthy girls also present. Something to keep your mind occupied while you workout. Too bad they like to keep the guys out!

op, are you a homosexual? just wondering..not that theres anything wrong with that.

But if you aren't then what kind of straight man doesn't want to look at girls working out.

Nope not a homosexual. Simply just wanted to know if there were such gyms available for the reasons stated in the original post

I've often asked that question myself. Are there Men's-only gyms? And the question I always ask after that is.......why?? ;)

There was a men only gym called Steamworks that was being advertised on the subway a couple years ago. We had a chuckle at some of the content on the posters, even though it's an acceptable alternative lifestyle and blah blah blah...

I'm pretty sure the Cambridge Club is a men's only Fitness club. It's a really nice club inside the Sheraton Hotel downtown.

Are you looking for a gym like a spa/health-club or a power-lifting type place?

^^ Power lifting. Preferably in Mississauga too, I know of at least a dozen guys who are interested in this as well, but its just not available

Really OP no one at the gym stares at you or pokes fun, everyone is there to do their own thing women included. I'm guilty of staring at the women though :(

I thought that until I worked out with a male friend one day. I am female. He was making inappropriate comments about the woman running in front of us on the treadmill. I now work out in the female section of my gym.

women are a distraction. I often see guys just chatting with girls for the entire duration im on the treadmill.
And sometimes they`d be on a bench while talking basically just hogging it while other people are waiting. And when you ask if they`re done, they do a few reps and go back to socializing.

True as that may be, you can't change a person. If a guy already has a chatty persona, he'd probably socalize with the dudes too, and hog the machines.

LOL, funny thread. There aren't any because there isn't any demand for it, if you were trying to point out some sort of unfairness.

If you are seriously looking for that type of gym, just find a juicehead gym. These gyms usually scare the women away, and the few that are there will look like men anyways...

and are all the woman who goto female gyms lesbians:confused::lol:

I don't care either way, but just like not all guys who workout are "hot" or even in shape, same applies to girls/females;)

how about a place that specializes in boxing or maybe martial arts? a lot of them have workout areas and i don't imagine you'll get alot of women there..

I get what the OP is saying. I bet there are tons of men out there who are self conscious about working out in front of girls for whatever reason. Being self conscious is a huge barrier for many people when thinking of joining a gym.

As you can tell from this thread though, there is a much worse stigma associated with an all mens gym. People accept the idea of women working out together much more easily. We are also more accepting of places that exclude men than places that exclude women. Someone who sets up a men only gym is bound to face some trouble with women demanding access eventually.

If you google though, these places do seem to exist. I'm not sure about toronto though.

Being self conscious is a huge barrier for many people when thinking of joining a gym.The thing is that I bet many of these men are also self-conscious about working out in front of bigger, stronger men, too. I think a home gym is the best solution for them rather than an all-male gym.

In the end, I gotta agree with neutral above. There are very few if any all-male gyms because not enough men want it.

idk bout you guys but paying $30/month to just stare at girls at the gym is kinda creepy, weird and huge waste of money. Not saying I dont look at attractive girls at the gym, just not to the point where its distracting me from working out :D

I agree there is no market for men-only gyms.

The one legitimate place mentioned in this old thread was Cambridge Club in the Sheraton Center, but in reality Cambridge Club is really an old-school and expensive male-only business/social/fitness club, not simply a gym. Even then, many Cambridge Club members will use the facilities of the sister club, the co-ed Adelaide Club or co-ed Toronto Athletic Club.

Dignity08, I know a lot of fitness facilities. If you send me a PM with photos of yourself, I can recommend a gym for you based on how cute/hot you are  You might want to look into Flirty Girl Fitness. You can buy a pack of 20 classes for $14 each. The instructors are great, and women only allowed..... most of the members are quite hot, and get hotter with each workout.

I heard one lady said gym for men and she doen't feel good when workout in men's gym.
Only a suggestions. why not use your home as your gym?

Say , prepare a Abdominal Wheel Ab Roller , a Yoga Mat,a Hula hoop and CALORIE SKIPPING JUMP ROPE etc.
My wife got them from welcomeget. Com(a retail store) Basically she workout at home, sometimes she goes jogging outside.
Now she keeps fit well.

lol at men only gyms.

Girls in tna, yoga and leggings pants working out gets you pumping and motivating.

Even fat ones look good in those pants. Working out is the goal but looking at sweet things makes the time go faster :)

But if you aren't then what kind of straight man doesn't want to look at girls working out.not the fact that men dont wanna look a girls

its that they dont want girls to look at them, being sexually harassed by girls... or verbally
then later on raped in the shower by strong females

If you're asking if Flirty Girl Fitness is for real, yes they most definitely are for real, and are quite successful. The first thing that people talk about when checking them out is their more "exotic" fitness class offerings. But they also offer a full schedule of mainstream fitness classes like boot camp, yoga, cardio, group strength classes. I have heard that their cardio-dance classes (many different styles) are a blast!

If you're in mississauga, then the downtown Toronto studio won't work for you. But they are training more and more fitness instructors in their offerings, so I'm sure you see more of their mainstream programs offered in the future at other women only as well as co-ed fitness clubs.

But this thread is about men-only gyms!
