Hi all, I bought an Impreza from Subaru dealer, the sales guy recommend me to get the life time rust proofing for $600. Since there is $500 gift card promotion, I can get it for $100. Good deal? Or should I spend the money on something else?
Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Don't do it. It's huge commission for the dealer... even at $100 (they're making it off you elsewhere).
I would go to Krown.

I think the "lifetime" in life time rust proofing only means that you will be pay every year for the lifetime of the car. Annual reapplications are a requirement for the protection to be valid.
As far as rustproofing goes, do you know anyone or heard of anyone actually ever getting their car repaired from one of these warranties? In all my years, I have never run across a person who successfully has made a claim.

Thanks for your advices so far.
There are probably some hidden cost that I am not aware of even though it is life time rust proofing.

don't drive the car in the winter and garage it during the time period and your car will last a life time ... jks jks
I would recommend going to krown also, use the gift card toward accessories or maintenance service fees.

Sounds like a good deal. However, you have to make sure that you don't have to pay anything including admin fee when reapplying the rust inhibitor every year.
But I also know, when waiting for the rust proofing to be done in the waiting room, the dealer just move your car around and don't actually reapplying any undercoating beneath your car.
