Recycling/donating eye glasses?

Can anyone tell me where I can drop off old eyeglasses? I remember seeing boxes (maybe at certain department stores or supermarkets?) in the GTA, but for the life of me, can't remember where. I believe they are sent to developing countries?

We have several pairs that we no longer use. Would be great if someone else benefits from them.

You can even donate them to Public Libraries..atleast in Mississauga I've seen boxes in public libraries whic accept donations for eyeglasses ...maybe Toronto Libraries take them too .

In the past I've seen HAKIM OPTICALS and LENSCRAFTERS also accepting them..call them to see if they still do .

I've seen donation boxes at WalMart and Costco I'm pretty sure

eBay. Or ...

THROW THEM OUT in the garbage. SO WHAT??? It's garbage!

Just toss it out .... you're wasting time looking for places to recycle and wasting gas to travel to places (ie. ummm ... recycle one thing but polluting with gas!) ...
