HD's for Acer Easystore???

I have a couple of extra 1TB Seagate Barracudas lying around and need some HD's for my NAS.

Should I pop these in or just get some 1TB WD Green drives??

Any benefit with the 7200rpm or is it a waste?

It's a waste really, just mail them to me :)

Just pop them in, you won't have any issues and they probably run just 2-3c hotter than wd greens. Just make sure they aren't the ones with the firmware issue as it would be painful if 2 died at the same time (highly unlikely) -sg

Actually they are 7200.11's

Are they all affected or just certain serial numbers?

It would be a waste if you went out and bought new hardware while having perfectly good ones on hand. Sell them and recoup some cost if you're scared of losing your data.

I have all WD Green in my unit. Runs quiet and quite cool as well.

Sell them make sure to post the part number and firmware... if someone is looking to salvage their data or a client's you should get enough to cover most if not all of a similar spec green.

Only models with certain versions of the firmware were affected.

I own a total of 8 drives that were affected, updated the firmware on all of them and have had no problems.

Since you already own the drives, just check if you need to update the firmware and then go ahead and use them. Why spend money when you don't need to?
