1 Week ago I was looking for a graphics card. I saw that Soulplaya was selling one for $240. At first he would not even deal with me until I provided feedback of some sort. So I had him send me a message on ebay and I replied to confirm it was me. So then after that he agreed to deal with me. The card is made by EVGA and he already registered the warranty. So I was kinda leery of buying it because of the warranty. He said if I bought the card he would give me the account details and just change the info to mine. I took a day to think about it and get back to him. I offered him $220 for the card shipped to Windsor. He agreed immediately and I sent him the money through EMT. I asked for his full name and phone number. He told me his name was James D'irio and his cell was 416.540.2494. I never thought to call him because of his feedback and heatware where as this was my first ever deal on this forum and he would have to trust me not the other way around. I sent him a message a day later asking for tracking number, no answer. I have sent mutliple PMs and even tried calling that number a few times, no answer. At this point I am worried and don't know what to do in this situation. I sent him a final message stating I will send a formal complaint with www.recol.ca and the rcmp. He still has not gotten back to me. Fellow RFDers if you can help me out in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you not know that mostly scammers use EMT/Western Union/Money Gram?
I'm sorry to be harsh, but regardless of one's feedback, you should never trust these methods.
Simply use ebay/paypal and follow the rules. At least with these services you got buyer protection.

paypal is not as safe as EMT in some cases. Plus, not all scammers use EMT. In fact, I use EMT all the time. Ive completed well over 100 transactions and never used anything other than EMT. And I'm not a scammer. So please, don't speak of what you don't know.
However, anyone that uses Western Uion or Money Gram in Canada is definitely scamming. Since those are international transfers. If you live in Canada, you shouldn't be using a site like Western Uion.
EMT is perfectly safe. But like everything in this world. It all comes down to the user.

Thanks.
Sorry to say, but you definitely got scammed. Someone else made a payment for this video card as well. I would start to pursue whatever legal action you can.

i called the local police, they came to my house, i gave them the details. They gave me a report number and told me to go to my bank, show them this report number and tell them what happened. They said the bank SHOULD going to reimburse the amount.

EMT? Doubt it. That was probably just their way of getting rid of you.
If they were serious, they'd be after a subpeona to track down where your EMT went, and who owns the account.
But best of luck.

We have no real info on the guy. EMTs are not tracable. Stupid move on my part with EMT. I should have known better.

EMTs are not tracable.
Sure they are. You just have to compel your bank to do it. Call your branch and find out if they'll do it or if they need a subpoena to disclose it.
The money is not sent by email, just the notification. The money always resides safely at a financial institution, and is transferred through existing payment networks that financial institutions have used for years to settle cheques, bank machine deposits and withdrawals.
