There is a correlation. As our dollar goes up, everyone in canada gets rich and we can all buy products from developing countries at cheap prices giving employers more money to spend on employees!

Then from all the money spent in developing countries, they can afford move to Canada to work here instead, and they bring their jobs with them. As a result, a higher dollar brings more immigrants to Canada, and since they bring their (sweatshop) workplaces with them, we end up with higher employment rates.
