Ugh...

One more confirmation to the horror many of us have suspected for years; an EPA document clearly states Rendering Facilities "obtain animal by-product materials" from "animal shelters." Along with another EPA report, the evidence is mounting; current pet food regulations must be changed.

Just another reason why I buried my cat when I had to put him down, it was tough but I wanted to know he was in a good place. That article convinced me that I will handle my other cat after his euthanization and not have his body thrown in a garbage bin and sent to the meat grinder.

I am going to hope and pray that the urn I have is of my little girl and not just some random dog or cat's ashes. This disgusts me and I might have to go research which food is the best since I am getting very paranoid now. 'sigh'

There are no guarantees that the ashes you get back are from your pet...you can only hope the companies that provide this service are reputable.
In my case, I have two little urns sitting in the back of my cupboard. They gave me a certificate with them stating the name of the pet and the person who performed the cremation.

I just hope those people are reputable and don't do bad things. We got a certificate too but....not sure how trustworthy it is.

i wondered about this for human cremation as well.
