Right now my 2 kids go to a before school program for less than 1 hr and then a different after school program for about 2 hours.

The kids are 11 and 9.

I pay between 1100-1200 a month.
I would love to hire someone privately to come into my home and take the kids to and from school. Any idea what that would cost? Do you think I could find someone?

I DONT want someone to take them to their own home, nor do I want someone who has their own kids.

Thoughts?

I have a nanny who picks up my son at 2pm and watches him until 630. Even if I get home earlier than 6, she gives him his bath, and feeds him dinner so that I can wind down and start dinner for myself. I work shifts, and all different hours, a lot of weekends. On those full days, she has him from 845-530, either at my house or hers. I pay her $250/week, $40 extra per day on full days. It is definately expensive, but the convenience of it is worth every penny! Mind you, my kiddo is 5, and a lot of work to keep him busy. She takes him to the pool every other day, the park every day after school, and the library and shopping every few days. He loves it, and I love that he is safe and well cared for, and I don't have to panic to pick him up by 530 everyday.

The best place to find someone good is to try your current daycare. my kid's nanny worked there, and quit to take him fulltime over the summer. It's worked out great for us both... she has a lot more free time to do her art classes, plan her wedding etc, and still make comparable wages (without dealing with 20 kids)

Around here the most 10+ year olds walk to and home from school...this is what we'd want our son to do when he turns 10.

Look for a nanny.

Right now we use daycare.

Thanks for the info.
I would need someone from 315-515. Mon-Fri, I have 2 boys 11 and 9, they would need to be picked up at school. I wouldn't even mind having the person come and extra hour and do laundry/cleaning beforehand-but that woud be only if they want to.
What would you pay for this?

Right now we use daycare.

Most kids here have a parent pick them up.
We dont live very close to the school, if we lived closer then I may let them walk. But for now we dont. They are too close to be bussed.
I just think finding a nanny for a few hours would be hard.
Where would I look?

For us, there are postings on the school bulletin boards: full time, part time, afterschool, sharing....

If your area is like ours, go ask one of the nannies there picking up kids after school if they know anyone...likely they do.
