AE Aeroplan gold question.

Has anyone thought of applying for the AE Aeroplan plus card, then cancel, but keep the physical card to access priority security and Maple Leaf lounges? I doubt these services check the validity of the cards. If there was a way to apply for the card with the first year free, this would be awesome?

Well, give it a whirl I guess, but if you really travel that much on AC that you get $400 worth of value out of the MLL, and don't achieve Elite status, then you're a rare duck indeed. Either that, or an extremely heavy drinker or thief.

There's other ways of getting into the MLL that don't involve paying a fortune (or anything, for that matter!), if you're into scamming.

1. Amex gold does not entitle you to priority anything on AC or the MLL.
2. MLL agents swipe cards on entry.
