Information missing from Credit Report

I decided to check my credit report today, since I know your supposed to check it once a year. I noticed that one of my credit cards (AMEX) is not listed. I was under the impression that AMEX reported to Equifax, is this not true?

My Costco AmEx is reported on both Equifax and Transunion. Most (all) CCs report to both agencies but only use 1 for checking credit scores on applications.

These companies (and American Express) are surprisingly incompetent, so I am not surprised that there's some error on your report. Maybe they are reporting it on the credit of someone else with a similar name.

I recommend that everyone make use of the 1 free credit report per bureau per year to which they are entitled. Alternate between Equifax and Transunion every 6 months to scan for any errors on your credit report so you can kill any errors as soon as possible.

Edit: It appears that you have unlimited free reports per bureau per year? My info might be wrong.

There is no 1 free report per year, You can get your credit report for free as many times as you want from both EQ and TU.

So what do I need to do? Should I call up AMEX?

I personally would not complain about an omission on my credit report.
If you really want it corrected, you would probably have to go through that particular bureau.

Same for me here. My AMEX card is not shown on my Equifax report. I'm not worrying about it, for now.

Do a search. It's been discussed extensively on this forum. :)

In Canada, you can ask for the report how many time you want.

In USA, it's once per year.

Interesting. I thought I had read many times that it was only once per year in Canada, but now I can find no reference to it.

Thanks for info. I was also under impression under once a year. But Cant find anything on Equifax web site.

EDIT:
"You can ask for a free copy of your credit report by mail once a year. There are three main credit bureaus in Canada: Northern Credit Bureaus, Equifax Canada and Trans Union of Canada."

Incorrect. You can request as many free reports as you like in Canada. Any reputable business in Canada will tell you to check you credit report at least once a year if not more frequently - as long as you mail in you request (or order online and pay a fee). Should you be denied more than one report, you can complain to your provincial consumer protection agency or the Office of Consumer Affairs of Industry Canada.

Notice none of the above links advises you "one report per year".

Also noticed the link you provided - Northern Credit Bureau ceased to exist in 2007 when Experian bought the company (but ultimately failed to become the 3rd credit bureau in Canada)

In the U.S. it includes the risk score (fico or empirica) while in Canada it doesn't, it's just a basic credit profile. If you want your score you have to pay $23. For $15 you get access to your report right away (online) instead of waiting for the report by mail. Lazy ass politicians here should definitely pass legislation so that people can get their score for free at least once per year just like the U.S.
