can you ask the local hopsital which pediatrician's are accepting new patients... or call your ob/gyn's office for a list of referrals??

You can try searching from the following 2 sites (By region, category, etc):

http://www.cpso.on.ca/docsearch/
http://www.ratemds.com/social/?q=node/11

Once you get their contact information, call and ask them if they are accepting new patients.

Good luck in your search.

What's wrong with using your family Doctor. Unless your child has major problems there is no need for a specialist, and if you need one your GP should be able to give a referral.

My hospital told us to just use our family doctor, and has been fine. I just had my second child and no problems.

there are pros/cons to using family dr. it's up to OP to decide which is better.
agree with prev post about asking hospital though....did the pedi that checked the baby out at the hospital not mention they were accepting? that's how we got ours.

my friends and relatives who got a pedia on their second child told us its much better to have a pedia to look after the baby instead of family doctor.
we already ask the OB but they directed us to the family doctor and the hospital where my baby is born told us also just go straight to the family doctor.
and after some research about using pedia or family doctor people still prepare getting a pedia for their baby.

Go to a PD, they are trained with focus on children whose biology is different from adults. It is like taking your lexus car to a gm dealer...a lexus dealer can recognized a lot more things.

I used ratemds. Made a list of the top ones and phoned until one accepted new patients.
