I have an ultrasonic cleaner. Have had it for 15 years. Mostly sitting in a box.
Pulled it out today, threw my electric razor blades in there, and, with a minimum of effort, it made everything nice and sparkling new looking.
Anyone else have an ultrasonic cleaner? Other than cleaning jewelry, what are some other good uses?
Is dish detergent a reasonable solvent to use, along with water?

interesting thread.. Thumbs up!
Aside from making your blades clean and shiny, I guess no other benefits to the blades

Put some old 'worn out' Mach3 blades in there as well last night. Went to shave with one this morning -- wow, its like old is new again!
Seriously, try it. Get more value out of those ridiculously expensive Mach3 blades. They don't get all that dull -- they just get full of hair and other crap from shaving.

I've used an ultrasonic cleaner for removing dried-up ink in fountain pen feeds. I also use it to clean tough-to-remove soap scum from my DE razor (Merkur Futur) with the help of dish detergent.
The use of dish detergent or other products depends on what you are cleaning. You wouldn't want to damage the lacquer of a fountain pen for example with a strong solvent. You can use other suitable cleaners sparingly like vinegar, or even laundry detergent depending on what you're cleaning...

I'll shave half of my face with the blade then try it out and shave the other half afterwards...
this would be awesome if it worked!

It seems to. The problem with the Mach3 blades is that they don't dull, but rather, inbetween the blades gets caked up with shaving gel/cream residue. Remove that residue, and the blade is almost as good as new. The ultrasonic cleaning ablates the gel strip, but by the time the blade is used a significant amount, that really doesn't matter too much.

I thought Sims (the original) had an ultrasonic cleaner which was the best 'shower'...
