i figured out I might as well post a 'ask me anything' thread

General information:
Lenses Material:
Polycarbonate (only comes in 1.59): unbreakable, softer than plastic, 50% lighter than plastic
Plastic: most common type of material, light and not as easy to break as glass
TL Plastic material: Only offered by essilor, a type of plastic that is less prone to breaking and cracking
Glass: most conventional type of lenses, provides thinner index such as 1.7, 1.8, and 1.9, easy to break, suitable for extremely high RX
Lenses type (plastic):

1.56 - $50
1.59 (polycarbonate) - $130
1.61 - $80
1.67 - $150
1.74 - $250
(Thinnest)
price for all lenses come with anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV resistant coating
Lenses Brand:
Nikon: Famous for their HCC (Hard clear coating), amazing scratch resistance
Essilor: Famous for the Crizal coating line, comes with 2 years warrantee on the coating, one of the best manufacturers for Progressive Lenses
Hoya/Sola/OSA...etc. normal brands
Coatings:
Coatings are pretty much standard these days, usually lenses I sell in the store I work at will already include Anti-Reflection, UV Proof, Scratch Resistance, and EMI protection

How long before the transition lenses die out? I heard that after awhile, they get "stuck" in a certain tint.
