If one is not a douche, how long does such a person usually last as a Future Shop employee either before quitting from being unable to hack the work environment or from simply being fired for not being a 'good fit?'

Ask me anything about Future Shop.. (No longer work there anymore though)
I've worked at Future Shop for 5+ years but recently quit. You can ask me anything from products to processing sales, to staff purchases, etc etc.
I will try to answer what I can. I noticed other people doing threads like these so I will try as well

If I buy something and you get commission on it, then I take the item back a week later.. does your commission get docked off your next pay?

Monster products are marked up roughly 50-70%.
For example
a 30ft HDMI cable by monster, is about 399.99... Cost is about $130.
It varies depending on the quality of cable... Your average 69.99 HDMI cables is about $30 on staff.
If you are looking for discounts... Look for product ending with a price of .97$ So $4, $109.97.. etc etc... Those products are considered CLEARANCE. Once they are sold, new product will come in.
The longer a .97 product stays on the shelf, the more the store has to pay to keep it on there.
.97 = Clearance (Need to get rid of it asap, that product no longer is being carried)
.95 = Push To Clear (GONE WHEN GONE, basically store doesnt want it anymore)
.96 = Open Box (Open box, its been opened and discounted)
.99 = Retail price
Last Sunday, January 29th, 2012 was FULL COUNT for ALL Future Shop locations. Meaning they count every product in the store to get an accurate inventory check (this is done after hours).
Full count is every 3 months, so after full count they are likely to have some deals going on (YMMV)
Stories are endless, be more specific.Last edited by flash67; Feb 5th, 2012 at 10:06 AM.

You are assigned a base wage (which is usually less then minimum wage).
Most of your commission is from services and warranty.
Selling services like ConnectPro Install, is 100% profit for the store. Warranty is a about 90%.
Some sales people will attach the warranty or a connectpro service in for free and discount the product a bit to make it seem like a good deal. All its doing is giving more profit to the store.
You make about 10% commission on warranties. So a $300 warranty on a 799.99 laptop gives them about 30 bux right in the pocket.
If you sell lets say $200 on instore computer repair service, you'll make about $30 in the pocket. (About 15% for services)
Edit: Some product is SPIFFED, meaning its given a higher commission payout when you sell the product for a limited time (its to push out old stock)
You ALWAYS make the most commission in the cell phone department, then Home Theatre, then the computer department. Those are the 3 highest paid commission departments in the store.
Product commission varies all the time.
For example laptops, at 899.99 will pay out MAX $30. When they attach a **** load of accessories and warranty (then the sale becomes a bigger payout). All that is called "BASKET." The more basket you can add to sale, the more you will make. Buy a laptop, they will add a printer, cables, mouse, bag, warranty, screen protection, screen cleaner (all that **** starts adding up quick)Last edited by flash67; Feb 5th, 2012 at 09:20 AM.

I have applied online at Futureshop almost every couple of years but I never hear back from them. Are they flexible with the hours as in if you're a student, are they willing to work around your timetable..
Thanks
