Yuck. I was hoping the setting would be ANYTHING BUT the American revolution.

I feel the exact opposite ... I think this is exactly the kick in the ***** that the series needed. That time period is awesome. It's got a ton of potential storylines and the characters from that time period are great. The weaponry will be very different from the previous games and the architecture is completely different
The other other time period I was hoping for was fuedal Japan ... I think they could have done something interesting with the samurai angle
I look at these leaked screenshots and I wish the game was already here:

What made me keep going besides the story was the fact you can buy stuff that generate money and of course training your men. Too bad that sending them away on missions doesn't give much besides xp and money and then after a while they reach max level and it feels like the game is done. If it had a bigger purpose then that would keep me going for weeks.

I was hoping for a feudal Japan as well but this looks pretty interesting too.
I enjoyed that aspect as well from Brotherhood but it wasn't much different in Revelations other than gaining money and xp. It would have been cool if successful missions would have an actual impact on the game or your character rather than just random missions for them to do.
I just recently finished Revelations and agree with most that it's more of an extension to brotherhood with not much new added. I have been a fan of the AC series so I did enjoy it and it was cool to see the conclusion of Altair and Ezio's storyline but was definitely getting the feeling of wanting something new.

i agree about the exclusive dlc... i'd love to have had the dracula sword in ACR but didn't pre-order. i got the game at walmart so at least i got armour of brutus and the ps3 version gave me a copy of AC1.
i hope AC3 is good... i'd loved to have seen something in japan or even china. japan would be awesome though... imagine the swords or armour they'd make
this one looks like he's got a tomahawk or something... maybe he's going to be an indian? hide boots the style of bow & arrow and clothingLast edited by jimmy-j; Mar 27th, 2012 at 09:00 AM.

If they wanted a revolution time setting, they should have picked a REAL one. French revolution would have been miles better. A peasant assassin vs. royal/noble templars.
In other unrelated news, GTA 5 should have picked another city. Liberty City and Los Santos have been done over and over and over and over again....then again and again and again. Would have personally preferred to see a Chicago one.
Just my 2 cents._______________

Just beat Revelations on the weekend, and yeah that game definitely dragged a bit, ending was pleasant and there was some nice tie-ins and resolutions with Altair and Ezio. Unfortunately I really felt that Revelations should have been a DLC or expansion to Brotherhood, there were barely any new features in Revelations and hardly enough new story content to justify a new game but I guess Ubisoft wants it $$.
Definitely looking forward to AC3, not surprised by the American War of Independence setting at all, Ubisoft have stated for quite awhile that the 3rd game would move to "the New World" and there are plenty of conspiracy-theory backgrounds regarding the Freemasons and Templar's roles in the creation of the United States in the real world for them to fluff out.
Plus, looking at the screen shot it seems like the 3rd game will be in a more nature/wilderness setting versus urban, it should be a nice change of pace for the series if you ask me. Much like how Metal Gear Solid 3's move to a jungle setting helped refresh that franchise._______________

I am a pretty big fan of the series despite the obvious flaws and have finished every one so far. AC3 looks really promising and seems like they are making some positive changes. From what I read, they have revamped a lot of things including updated engine, free running and combat system which is my biggest complaint. Very little has changed in regards to the way combat is done since AC1. I hope they integrate something like the way Batman handles combat to make things more fluid and dynamic. I also read that weather will play a factor which could be very interesting dealing with snow. Things like rain could make it more difficult to free run. Anyways, pretty excited to see what they have up their sleeves.
