Ya the enclosure I am using has e-sata and USB both... Ideas on how to create I/O error?? Transfer huge file via USB?

What triggered the constant errors in the first place?

The WD Green 500GB would give I/O randomly when I was downloading stuff off the net or moving files. Windows 7 prompt thing would came up saying I should backup my data... So I disconnected and tried with a different computer / new cables and same error... Noticed the burn area and that was that...
Decided to use the external case with e-sata using a 2TB drive. I started getting I/O errors too using the 2TB downloading off the net or moving files around the computer. I used a download manager so I just had to recheck / resume... Same with the moving just tried again... Method worked fine for ~2 weeks now. The I/O wasn't always there, it comes and goes.
Today I tried burning a ISO and I got all sorts of I/O errors and other error messages using ImgBurn. Tried a different program, same errors. Tried the second optical drive, same errors. Tried different program + second optical drive, same errors...
Then I remembered the burn spot and thought maybe the board got fried. So far it looks that way. The external 2TB also passed the error checking so the 2 drives causing the I/O are fine...
But what still doesn't make sense is how the 500 GB is passing the error checking yet it gives me i/o errors.
Ultimately, I'm going to RMA the PSU and the Motherboard.

George_,
Strange stuff there. Did you check other sites such as Tom's Hardware, etc? I suggest isolating the PS or the mobo...and see which is at fault before sending a component for RMA. I believe that a manufacturer would charge you a service charge if they find out that there isn't an issue with their item....be sure that the component is at fault before sending for RMA.

^^ I've tried different cable, reinstalled drivers, reinstalled the os (well not really, I used a clone image but still the clone image worked in the past...) and tried external enclosure via e-sata with problem still existing... Gonna try new PSU tomorrow. If it doesn't work that's enough for me....
PSU wise, it's going to be pretty hard to check the thing. I can't open it (due to stickers) and I don't have a PSU checker... Also don't feel like hooking the PSU up to another rig since if it's faulty, I might end up frying something else...

From what I've read in your posts in this thread so far, you have not definitively concluded that it is indeed the motherboard. So from what I gather, you have 2 hard drives in your setup: a 500GB and 2TB drive, correct?
So far we can establish that the 500GB is faulty.
Have you tried the 2TB in a different computer to see if you also get I/O errors in that?
What hard drive were you using when the you tried burning the ISO? Because the hard drive was still a constant variable other than the motherboard.

At first, my drive setup for the desktop was 500GB (green) + 500GB (blue) and I had no I/O error <--- Wasn't using RAID. I took out the Blue after I got SSD (month or so ago).
Initially
500GB (data) + SSD (OS / Programs) <-- INSIDE the computer...
500GB started giving out I/O errors, tried different cables and different SATA ports. Error still happened.
Put it into a different computer and problem still occurred.
Tried uninstalling drivers and putting the 500GB back in. Same thing
I/O error wasn't really "predictable." And it didn't happen the minute I installed the SSD. It's very hit / miss. Sometimes I could move data and check with teracopy to see CRC was verified just fine. Other times I/O error hit
The 500GB is disconnected and no longer in the picture.
THEN (worked fine for a few weeks)
2TB + SSD. Same setup as above. (data + OS/Programs)
2TB connected via E-SATA (on the motherboard). I/O errors happened again but same thing, hit and miss.
Tried external e-sata bracket (the one where I plug into the motherboard SATA port). I/O errors again. Tried different ports and I/O error again
The 2TB was working fine, it was inside another system which I knew worked
Now I have unplugged e-sata connection and the 2TB also out of picture
Image Burning
2TB + SSD was present.
I moved ISO to the SSD because the I/O errors I was getting...
Imgburn gave a "Timeout on logical on logical unit" error. Tried with optical drive 1 and optical drive 2, same thing.
Tried different program which just froze and failed
Checked ISO's MD5 and SHA-1, they matched. So ISO wasn't corrupt.
Burned the ISO fine with T510 laptop using same DVD media using imgburn
I admit, I haven't used the optical drives in some time... They are 2 builds old.
Now
Only SSD
Reinstalled via a image from a hard drive using a different PC (needed IDE).
Used this image many times without issue.
No I/O errors yet
Error checking passed on the 500GB (green) and 2TB, so the drives aren't faulty... This was done on a different PC using Hiren's boot cd. The 500GB still sounds funky though
Ultimately, I've tried like 14 different SATA cables... And the only thing I haven't changed yet is the PSU, which I will do tomorrow.
Maybe current PSU isn't able to provide the extra power needed for the hard drives / optical drives?? So this is screwing up the motherboard?
But SSD is okay because less power usage?
BUT this is a 850watt PSU so this doesn't make sense...
And also I burned DVDs/CDs fine before with my green + blue hard drive setup...
The PSU is also 2 builds old (3.5 years or so)

Can you try the same on the original machine (without the SSD)?
Also, you mentioned overclocking. In order to isolate the problem it would be best to reset BIOS to optimal settings.

Get HD Tune, run a full error scan and check your SMART readings. See anything under relocated sector count?
