ASUS N16 vs. Netgear WNDR3700-100PAS

what I currently have
-old wrt54gs that would drop signals like there's no tmr
-problem somwhat fixed with dd-wrt but still cannot seem to handle 5wifi connections simultaneously (slow speed)

what I want
-big bang for the buck
-router that can handle b/g/n simultaneously
-no dropping signals/connections when downloading torrents (esp. multiple at the same time)

my question would be...

if I bought asus - n16, I heard that the stock f/w is horrible and that it's only great if I go with tomato f/w. can I go back to the normal f/w if I wanted to? (say I need to return it to where I bought it because it's defective..I think having 3rd party f/w runnign would void the warranty and won't let me exchange it)

if I bought wndr3700-100pas, is this the same as 100NAS v.1 or v.2? I heard that there are some issues with v.2 of NAS products.. Is there something I can check to make sure that it's v.1 (one w/o problems)?

Is there much benefit from getting a 'dual band' router??

the only reason I would go for wndr3700 would be because of it's dual band capability.
but if there's no significant benefits, then I'd rather save ~30$ and go with asus n16.

Any other pros and cons for this routers??

Thank you!
PS. I use TSI cable
