I usually leave the car in first gear, but mainly because my car's ebrake is not very trustworthy.

Just wanna see if all you manual drivers will park in Gear 1/reverse.

i myself, park my car in gear if it's on a inclined parking space,
i know it's a bad habit....but if you have a turbo timer or

If I drive a manual car I usually leave it in first (since thats what I drive into the space with. Occasionally I have left it in reverse.

If parking on level ground, I raise the hand brake a couple notches and leave my car in whatever gear it was in when I came to a stop. If parking on a grade, I raise the hand brake until it can hold the car and put my car in 1st gear.

Are you saying it's a bad habit to park in gear?
It can be real easy to steal a car in neutral with just the emergency brakes on. What if your car was facing downhill and some jerk decides to jack up the back end?
But as you said, remote start and turbo timer users would need to park in neutral.
I park in gear with the e-brake because if the e-brake is engaged 1 notch less, my car WILL start moving on an incline.

i usually have it in 1st, 2nd or R gear. Buddy said it's good to cycle different gears - doesn't matter which gear it's in, as long as it's in gear, the car won't move.

I always park on level ground and just use the e-brake. During winter time I program the remote starter so that I can start it up in the mornings, another reason why I only leave it in neutral so it won't lurch forward and hit another parked vehicle.

the only reason why you'd use 1/reverse when parking is because they are the shortest gear for your car.. meaning more for the wheel to turn.
if you have a remote start.. i think depending on which one.. some requires that before you leave the car.. you need to set a key sequence or something like that.. and that the parking brake must be active.. itz more of a safety thing..
coz i mean.. there has been cases where someone bypassed the clutch sensor and installed a remote starter... next thing u know.. some pressed the ignition button and the car ramped into his own garages...

On the flat : parking brake only.
On a hill : leave in gear, with parking brake AND turn the wheels slightly toward the side of the road.

on Neutral and I use remote starter.
When I put in gear, and I always forgot that I'm on gear....I start the car, let go the clutch and I stall it, LOL

Always park in gear (1st downhill or flat, R on uphill). Also always use E-brake, and always turn wheels appropriately (into curb on flat or downhil, away from curb on uphill).
It's about safety and security.
And to those that have auto-starters, you really should get an override to avoid the lurch when you are parked in gear_______________
