From watching the videos and responses on the dashcam thread and more in this forum, here's a question to debate:
If 95% of the drivers on the road don't drive the same way you do, aren't YOU the one who "can't drive"?
For example, the majority of people don't tailgate and flash their high beam headlights at someone going (in your opinion) slow in the left lane, but just change into the slow lane and pass them without any drama/angst. However, you tailgate/high beam them even though the right lane is available for you to pass him/her. Doesn't that make you a minority? And doesn't that mean you are the "terrible" driver? Assuming that the majority of people are decent, considerate drivers.

By trying to create drama or prove a point on the road, those drivers are becoming road hazards themselves, and only adding to the problem!
IMO, just drive safely, who cares if someone is driving slow or not following the rules, the goal is to arrive at YOUR destination safely anyways.
Just move/drive away from the bad drivers you witness.

It's called slower traffic moves into the slower lanes (and it's what they're supposed to teach you in driving school) and that's the reason we have needless congestion on wide open 3 lane highways and the potential for contact when people 'under' take in the middle lane and merge into the path of cars and trucks also attempting to overtake. You've evidently not driven in many places around the world where much greater volumes of traffic seem to move quicker on smaller roads. It is extremely discourteous and selfish to drive alone in the fast lane and expect everyone to pull off maneuvers around you. So yes, you do deserve a high beam or two. Overtake and merge back into the middle or slow lane even if you're on your own.

OP you're right.
I'm going to pull out one of my headlights and replace the other with a single HIDs, get some bald all seasons for my car. Take most of my taillights except for 1. Take that single tail light and break the brake/signal filiment.
Replace my good working wipers with some old brittle ones. Put a ton of stuff animals in my back windows until I can't see out the back. Replace my good quality OE exhaust with a fart can, cut my springs.
To bring my car to the standards of 90% of the cars in the GTA.
As for my driving I'm going to stop signalling, shoulder checking and just change lanes. I'll also stop looking behind me and just gun my car out of my drive way/parking spot (Hopefully my neighbour won't post a thread about getting the OPP on my case because they're a bad parent and didn't teach their kid how to be safe around large cars).
More importantly I'm going to start crusing to work in the left lane at 10km/h under because I want to save gas and I'm not really confident about my car/driving skills so automatically going slower = safe._______________

Clearly not the standard in the GTA unless you travel in a terrible area?
I admit, I see poorly maintained cars every now and then, but not in the large numbers I see/seen in in comparison to other places. And I'm sure you exaggerated by saying 90%, but I wouldn't even place the number in the majority, maybe more like 10% of the cars out there.
However, I do hate the large numbers that drive around in high beams, no lights at night, or the lack of signal light usage (more common with taxis and the police though).Last edited by Kaiu; Jan 23rd, 2013 at 11:44 AM.

In Toronto, people congregate on the left lane. I find the right most lane to be less used and is great for going faster than everyone.

That leaves you with the 2nd right most lane to pass
. This beats the two left lanes full of idiots going 110kph.
And OP, the majority of people doing something doesn't equal the majority of people being correct. If it did, we'd all be driving the speed limit (which would be raised as everyone would follow it), signal, come to a complete stop before turning right on a red, wouldn't run the advance yellow or red that ended a minute ago, smoke pot, download music, etc etc the list goes on.
The majority of drivers don't follow all the traffic laws and the cautious ones drive to slow for the experienced ones who like driving faster.

At the front of every congestion on the left lane is a Corolla. I bypassed so many corollas going slowly on the passing lane by driving on an empty middle lane. These people just refuse to move over. The first thing they do when entering a highway is head directly to the passing lane and stay there. I think Toyota must be telling Corolla drivers that this is what they must do.

Maybe it's just the big city attitude but when I drive into Toronto, I can sense the road tension. People aren't as "friendly"; they cut you off and dont let you merge. Up in my neck of the woods if you let someone merge in front of you, they give you a thank you wave, etc.
I don't see any of that on the 404 or 401 when I go to Toronto.
